I've tuned many STB's and found them generally intuitive but how the hell do you tune in one of these ?
Been through all menu options and nothing looks feasable.

Only one way to tune a DGTEC 2000 is to throw it in the garbage.
One other option is to use it as a boat anchor (more functional than its use as a STB).

Hi Bellotv,

The short answer I have found from bitter experience, is with a heavy, blunt object. I suggest that you proceed with caution, and only if you have a long fuse, great self control and don't suffer from frustration. happy.gif

Very Simple (And I would think intuitive) --
(1) Press the Menu button on the Remote
(2) Select "Channel Setup"
(3) Select "Scan all Channels"
(4) Let it do its thing.
(5) Enjoy the superior Picture Quality (I am not Joking - the DH-2000A is still one of the best).

BTW... I know a lot of threads hang it on the DGTEC, but is was, and still is a benchmark for PQ, and whilst it definitly has its anoying qwerks, remember it was one of the first HD Recivers out there. (I would still rather have an original 1960's Cooper S, than a new mini)

Guys,I realise these are a Piece of **** but one of my customers was sold one with no operators manual. Now we have extra digital channels on air and they want these tuned.
I tried in vain but could find no istallation or setup menu.
obviously you guys had one so how do you enter installation mode/menu ?

Thanks mork
we must have typed at same time
I did as you said pressed MENU button on remote ( and also on STB )but did not find CHANNEL SETUP option which as you say is fairly intuitive.
This is why I posted request.
Is it possible that guy that installed STB in first instance may have locked out CHANNEL SETUP menu option with E.G parental lock or similar ?

bellotv,

Check your PM re: the manual

Is it the HD or the SD version? I used to have the SD version, my parents have it now, but going by memory, it's something along the lines of:

1) Press the "SL" button, this stands for Selection List and will bring up the list of current channels. Down the bottom it will have 4 colours to match buttons on your remote and functions for what they do.
2) Select "Channel Scan", I think it is the green button.
3) Select "All Channels", I think this might be red or blue.
4) Let it do it's thing and it should tune in all the channels.

These instructions are only for the SD version. I don't know the HD version, I was burnt once.

In fact as at Oct 2001 they were the only HD STB on the market, you could say that they were pioneers, whilst the Toshibas & Panasonics took their time to get into the marketplace at least this mob gave consumers a chance to view HD back then (nobody else was around).

I still have a DB2000 in my bedroom for the 68cm 4:3 Sony TV. I still keep the 4:3 TV exclusively for watching Channel 7 laugh.gif

You may be right about there being two versions.
The channels that were tuned on this box only showed SD programs.
Will try your suggestion .Thanks

Hi Bellotv,

The DGTEC website has the manual for the DH 2000A available to download. Looks like you press the 'Menu' button, then go to 'channel setup'.

This is the only STB I ever bought back in 2001 for about $900. I left it on 24/7 since new and surprise to see it is still going strong all these years. Other than a rather non-responsive remote it is pretty decent in every other way. No problem picking up all the new HD/SD channels.

I am interested in how to program the remote to control the Sony. I have lost the manual. Do you still have yours and what is the procedure to allow the remote to control the TV and STB as well.

Thanks in anticipation

Please PM me with your postal address, my scanner is not working however I can photocopy the manual for you, as for controlling a Sony there are no instructions in the booklet.
