Hey everyone,
Some advice and comment would be appreciated.
I sat down last night with my new copy of DVE and looked to started to calibrate my Hitachi 8800.
I used the basic calibration tools first.
I did the standard brightness and ended up at +2, I then did the contrast and ended up at -5 although I couldn't really see any flaring on the test pattern.
However it was when I tried to do the colour setting using the blue filter that I encountered something a bit weird. I used both the colour filter supplied with DVE plus the Colour Decoding menu options for only showing blue colours. The only settings I could get which seeemd to meet the calibration requirements were with the colour set on -10 and the tint set on +12
I could not get the blue to be consistent across the entire display as the instructions say it should be.
This seemed a bit weird that I would need these values to be set like this to calibrate the unit properly.
Previously watching movies with colour at about -10 and tint at +2 (without calibration) the pic looked fine and it seems to still look ok after the settings were made, it just seems very extreme to have the tint at +12.
Just after anyone's comments on the above and experiences with DVE and this unit and colour calibration. Is this type of setting symptomatic of some kind of failure or shortcoming in my gear?
I run a Yammy C750B dvd player through my RX-V740 AMP and into the Hitachi via Component, using Belkin PureAV cables.
