Just as the topic says,

Client is in the middle of having us construct his house and is uncertain what to put in his media room (which isnt overly big, just 5.5m x 5.3m) and isnt interested in projectors. No real budget just wants best bang for buck for a largish screen.

42" sony plasma's look nice (we get wholesale prices on most name gear like sony and samsung etc) but I dont know what to think of the grand wega tech.
Anyone have any experience with them or have an opinion on them or a better alternative.

At viewing distances over 4 meters, you should be looking at a 60” or larger screen.
The new A10 series Grand WEGA is certainly worthy of strong consideration.

Toshiba have just released a new line of 1080p DLP RPTV’s in 62” and MASSIVE 72” sizes, which should be even better then the Sony LCD.

The 72” is REAL home cinema without the disadvantages of a front projection system.
At 72” and 1080p resolution, Plasma cannot compete, and at about $8K, it is very affordable, so I suggest you tell your client to check it out.
The down side of DLP is that a small percentage of people see a rainbow effect on screen sometimes, so an extended audition with a verity or sources is recommended before a purchase decision is made.

LG now have a 71” LCoS 1080p RPTV on offer, so that could be well worth a look as well.
