I may have missed some posts on this but can I please get a consensus on what is the best way to “Run the Panel In”. I have this at home now and want to get the settings right for the first 100+ hours etc.

Brightness ?

Contrast ?

Anything else that users of this panel would recommend for the first 100+ hours.

Cheers.

I have mine on Natural, with contrast at -5 and everything else at 0.
Felix.
I could give you my precise settings but that would be kind of pointless as everyone's equipment, set-ups, watching envionments and tastes are different. The single best thing you can do however is shift away from the default "dynamic" picture mode and choose either "natural" or "cinema" mode which has lower brightness and contrast settings than dynamic. These modes (cinema my personal favourite) also produce a better quality image imo although ultimately your own eyes are the best judge of that.

Others would recommend stretching 4:3 images fully across the screen early in the display's life but I haven't found that necessary and have had no image retention or burn-in problems watching all programming in OAR in my 3+ months of ownership.

I use the settings from JandG from the Hitachi hours thread - Contrast -2, bright +2, color -11. I also have a rather boring aquarium DVD set on loop to get the hours up. I intend getting up to about 300 hours before turning anything up. I have had none of the problems from other threads such as dead pixels or logo burn in evem tho I have been watching quite a lot of olympics.

sunwin1,

The link to the thread about Hitachi Initial Settings is here

I had fairly similar settings to JandG in first 100 hours except for brightness (slightly higher). I have not had any trouble with dead pixels, burn in etc. (touch wood).
