Hi all, I'm looking at getting a hd stb for my tv and eventually replace the tv with a 40" LCD to put this stb on to. Haven't really had time to research what are good brands of hd stb so if anyone could help me out that would be good i have a budget of about $400.

Thanx in advance

Hey Spinner,

You are making a good choice by going to HD box.

I bought the LG LST5100p - good box, good features, DVI output (good for LCD) and pretty robust.

Can't complain too much. You should be able to get for around $400-$430 so make sure you bargain.

Have a look at the Kaon KTF620 easy to use good PQ DVI
out and $130 less than the LG got mine for $290. Saying this the LG is a solid box my pop has one and I've had a good play with it I just dont see the $130 in it, plus my box was easier to set up and changes channells faster. On the down side not as pretty and the LG's remote can turn your tv on and off and do the basic s. The Kaon does not. But if I were you I would wait until you get your plasma and by then maybe you could get one with a HD as well. Hope this helps
