With my setup, on 1080i , there is horizontal 1 cm banding all the way down the screen.
All other resolutions are excellent. Am using component connection.
anyone have any clues?

I had the same when using Hotchip throuhg DVI. couldn't solve it so I returned the box. Bought a SD box and haven't looked back since.

The 4000HD performs really well for the price, but there are compatibility issues. I wrote this recently in another post -

Not an exact match for your situation here, but I have a the same Hotchip and a Soniq 42". <snip> On DVI all resolutions work A-OK. On component, 720p won't work but all others including 1080i do. Other members with 4000HD/Soniq combo report the same. I believe the Hotchip exhibits some incompatibilities depending on the display, and yours is just another incompat. The Hotchip website has firmware downloads, make sure you are at the latest. FYI I'm using component as DVI gives the slightest flicker on horizontal graphics, PQ on component cannot be faulted IMO.

Your best bet is to return it and get a different brand or model.

1080i DVI to the Hitachi 8800 has problems. I went back to the store different STB and TV and same problem. DVI to HDMI could be part of the problem.
720p was also a problem but the workaround was to cycle the resolution and the picture went good.

This was all under DVI. Component was fine.

Looks like it's back to the shop
