RRP: $549 [GST Inc.]
Improved Tuner.
DVB-T Compliant
Dolby Digital 5.1 Channel - Surround Sound Audio when Broadcast.
VCR Out mode.
RGB and Component Video High Definition Output

A/B/C Switch
Selection options for either HD or SD.

RCA Video cables
1 x White/Red, 1 x Red/Green/Blue

Their last model had major issues, and many people were unhappy with their purchase. I have no idea about this one, but if it's anything like the last, stay clear. For $549 it doesn't really seem to have much in the way of outputs... and having a switch on the back for HD/SD sounds rather inconvenient since most STB's allow you to change this from the remote.

Looking at the pdf manual (available from the pana site) - the box doesn't have DVI (or HDMI) output, it's best connection is RGB.

The switch on the back is to select the output format:
A=SD/HD over component
B=HD over RGB
C=SD over s-video/composite

No digital video connection - so what's the point?

I have this box and havn't had any issues with it (bar one which is due to poor reception of the standard 9 Digital at my house). For me component is good enough as I only have one HDMI input on the T.V and I'd rather use that for my DVD player.

Hi jsmith,

I note your comment about the earlier model (I assume you are referring to the 104A) having major issues. I have one of the 104As, and have had very little trouble with it. I may just be lucky. Can you please give me a rundown on the problems that you are aware of, just for interest sake?

Well i have 104A and issues range ... the biggest one is the constant hangings of the unit which require to power cycle the unit (not just on/off button) to get it back to normal. It looses channels from time to time.

i'm sure there is more, i just avoid using it after two replacements

Thanks for that. Panasonic have a software upgrade which is apparently designed to fix a 'small number' (Panasonic's words) of STBs that lock up. That may fix your problem. I don't have the issue so I haven't upgraded to the latest software.
