Last night I lost audio on my Hotchip HD STB for Channel Nine HD Brisbane. Thought I was going nuts. PC HD tuner was OK. No other channels affected, SD or HD.

Tried all manner of rebooting (both set and mains), rescans (quick and full), clearing data. No dice. .

Emailed Hotchip. They rang Nine Brisbane and confirmed some HD audio problems there. Some of Nine's viewers reported their STBs worked OK after a rescan, some did not. Hotchip was one apparently. smile.gif

Hotchip suggested this sequence:- Clear data. Mains power reboot. Full rescan.

Did that and I now have 9HD Brisbane sound back.

Anyone else had problems like that?

Try it again, but leave the STB off for twenty minutes or so.

I had tried so many variations on the clear data rescanning thing I was ready to chuck it in the bin. At Hotchip's request I did it again in the sequence they requested but got sidetracked after I cleared and switched it off. Came back twenty minutes later and switched it on did the rescan and bingo, it worked.

I was watching 9 HD and all of a sudden the screen went black and the box was locked up. I ended up unpluging the power and when i plugged it back in all traces of channel nine were gone.

Haven't tried a rescan yet. Haven't talked to hotchip.

The same thing happened to my Omni DVB505 (DGTEC 5000). I haven't done anything to try to fix it yet. At least I know it's not a fault with the STB. Kind of a shame really. Would have been a good excuse to upgrade.

Did as RJM suggested - fixed!!

Clear all data.
when the option came to hit menu or quick setup, thats when I pulled the plug.

Left it out of the wall for a good 30 minutes then did a FULL scan.

Fixed!!

Have a good weekend people.

Good to hear that worked.

I noticed last night that I now have managed to pick up an extra "Radio" channel. It says it's 11 and seems to be the sound for Channel 10. Also another set of ABC Dig/ABC Jazz appeared that I don't recall seeing before. Totally weird! Do not understand how something that some idiot at Channel Nine does can bugger up your STB. A pox Channel Nine!!!
