Hey all,

Finally got sick of waiting arounf for more hd pvrs to come out (esp since lg is being delayed till jan 2006) so ive decided to go head and buy the toshiba (with my fingers crossed).

Does anyone know where to get it from at a good price?

I live in Sydney

Cheers

When I got mine more than 6 months ago, I paid $1350 cash from KHAI HIFI in John St Cabramatta.

I've had problems with the machine (FW AUTO69) since the start such as random reboots but I managed to eliminate this by running it without the top cover.

My theory is that heat or electrical properties of the chassis + top cover contribute to instability of an onboard component in the machine blink.gif

Other fixes I have implemented are
1. Upgrading coax cables to RG6 and F-type - separately feeding the tuners to allow PIP to work
2. Powering it using a THOR power filter - to reduce audio dropouts, clicks and pops

So far with the above it has been working perfectly for many weeks..

My next action is to replace the HDD with a 320Gb SATA drive and resinstall the top cover to see if there will be stability issues.

Best of luck..

Red Dude,

Good luck to you though.... cool.gif cool.gif

I say go for it. I have had my unit since July. I have not experienced any of the problems that people on the forum have complained about. My only issue is with the quality of the user interface, remote control and certain features that are lacking (eg. a bookmarking feature would be good).

I don't actually love my J35, more a really, really like it. I do suspect however that if I read the manual a bit more and played with it a bit more I could come to love it.

Now, Where's that 320Gb HDD ????

Well, ive got a mate whose j 35 works flawlessly and the pq is so good...its hard to resist. I figure any issues can be sorted through warranty otherwise a swap for the lg when it comes out

If it were that easy I wouldn't have gone through 2 units and 3 (or is it 4 now?) firmware versions and still have the same issues (albeit improved). I haven't even bothered with the latest firmware as they told me flat out it wasn't meant to fix the issues I'm experiencing.

Sure, you can get one here for $1100. smile.gif

They're ex-demo, but they've got the warranty etc. of a new box.

Where do you think these "Demo" units come from ?

My $0.02 is that they are the ones we've returned to Castel.

Would I save $400 to buy a box that was sent back because it was faulty ??

No.

laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif Nice comeback !!

Seriously though, If someone sends me a serial number of one they are considering buying, I'll happily tell them if it was mine that I sent back.

Then if they were dumb enuff to still buy it, I'd tell them the troubles I had with that particular unit so they could see if indeed they had been fixed...........
