Well after reading many many posts in this forum I thought the ausid hd stb
would be the best way to go when buying my fuji plasma screen, I picked it
up yesterday only to be really dissapointed with its performance, everything
I had read about judder and pixelilation were wrong its is no better then my
other sd stb I have and to be honest its control and menu system is just a
horror to use..!!! I have had to do a auto search twice so far and each time
you do one it takes 20 mins plus to scan all channels in, if you turn off the unit
you lose the information, which means you have to scan them in again.
I will have to confirm with ausid if it is faulty or if it is a feature of the unit sad.gif
I was really happy with the cables that came with the unit and the look of how
solid the unit is but really it is such a horror to use and to get around the menu
system.
I dont think I can even edit out the channels I dont want to go threw, it just seems
to have all the channels which is yet another pain.!!! grrrrrrr
what a total waste of time it was reading how good this unit is when the signal
strength is better on my sd stb - I can not even get sbs using the ausid......

maybe it will go better as a book end......
anyone need a sinker for there next fishing trip......

Assuming you have got good reception using your other STB theres something going wrong here - the auto scan should take a couple of minutes only

If you read the maual you will find out how to set up Favourites - then you just use the FAV key on the remote

Have you read the manual?

Its got a three year warranty - so if its faulty get it fixed!

As you have seen there are lots of very satisfied AUSID users not experiencing any problems
Austen
samurie,

There appears to be something strange going on here, on these forums it appears to me as though there are two contenders for King of the STB's as far as picture quality is concerned, and your AUSID is one of them.

Notwithstanding any other issues, I don't recall any person as saying that the AUSID and Toshiba HDD-J35 have anything other than perfect PQ.

With this in mind, and with you saying that you have a SD box that works fine, I'd be at the dealers door at 9.00am Monday morning wanting a replacement AUSID box.

Austen.

samurie,
You do no say if you tried this unit in the same antenna point as the STB. It sounds as if it is not getting enough signal.

You have not said where you are. Click on Geographical Viewers' Forums. Subforums Select your geographic subforum and then open Get the best reception. Which transmitter and which antenna
Post any further posts on this topic in your geographic viewers’ forum.

Ok guys - sorry to sound so negitive with my first post, here are some
more details...
I am in the brisbane metro area but have around 85% to 92% signal strength
except for SBS which is like 75% so signal strength is poor for sbs.
I have had all day with the unit and feel alittle better about it as I have not
had the judder and pixelisation I had last night, still have no reason to why
if you turn off the ausid power to the tuner you lose the settings of stations
but will ring ausid tomorrow to find out more on that...
I dont like that you can not delete unwanted channels, thought most stb's
have that, but having a fav list is just pressing another button, hope software
upgrate will fix it, I have a 2004 version software - is there any 2005 upgrade.?

sorry to sound negitive about it but I did expect a much better / friendlier menu
system..

picture quality is awsome in hd on the fuji and I got to say I have not seen much
better......

cheers guys - will keep you updated smile.gif

There's 2 ways to tune. The autotune takes about 5 mins. Then there's a quick scan option where if you live in a state capital city you just select which (eg. Brisbane) and it takes about 20 secs.

dry.gif Yes, well I am left wondering about this product. My son always says "if all else fails read the manual" Well we read the manual anyway but all else did fail and I have no idea where to go from here except back to the supplier with it and its unbelievably complicated manual which assumes you know everything before you start.Good Luck.

Im a happy AUSID user, Great PQ ans Sound, the menu is its only problem its not pretty and at time a little slow!

PQ vs Menu

I would rather Great PQ and a good basic Menu, than a good PQ and Great easy to uses menu system!

Ill second that one.

Wondered how long before you popped around !!!

Too right about PQ though, that's why half the people who demand great PQ have the J35 and the other half have the AUSID..............There's not too much else to choose from !!!!

Samurie,

I have one more question for you.

Where did you find this AUSID STB in Brisbane? I have searched the north side and east side and am yet to eyeball one?

My Ausid has been working great for the last 3 months. The only couple of problems is sometimes when you select the TV off, the set top box/fan keep running. The only way is to peek behind the TV to hear it running.I live in Brissy and have depowered the set top box at pwr piont and it remembers settings.Last night for some reason lost audio on HD9? 9Digital audio is okay.Any help please.
