I'm not sure if my TV can play any soft of digital TV, It's got those three input things on the back (the coloured ones). If I get the aldi Tevion High definition digital set top box, will this be able to be plugged into my TV and used?

What colours are they?

Red, white and yellow = no (well, not at HD anyway)
Red, green and blue = yes

Dont play around with things until you put in a bit of reading re DVB from these forums or as i did read plenty of electronic magazines to come up to speed .Sounds like you bought impusively without knowledge of DVB.Never buy electronic gear from a discount food retailer , go to a specialist. If you dont know about DVB a specialist retailer will explain things & instal the equiopment.

If the HD Box has composite/s-video as well as component (or even better VGA) then its pretty safe to purchase.

You can at least a picture and sound on your ord. TV at composite as minimum.

S-Video (round black/yellow socket) would be better.

Component - RED, BLUE and GREEN even slightly better.

From that we move to HI-SYNC HD specific. Some Component inputs are multi-sync and will do a true HD mode of the HD STB output. This is simply a video signal at higher levels then INTERLACED component.

Like I said buy it and either way it would work. But you maybe in the market for Plasma or whatever HD display later on to get beyond just TV picture results.

And yes - there is a huge difference with DIGITAL TV into ANY TV from a STB as opposed to using its internal old analogue tuner.

With a TV that only has composite inputs (the worst of the bunch) see here: http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?amp;sho...ndpost&p=184212 you definitely only need a SD STB you would see no improvement going to a HD STB.

That said the HD STB would work but it would be a waste.
