I have scanned the entire site to no avail. I am in need of a High Definition STB for my Panasonic TH-42PV500A. Can anyone give me a quick advice as to what sort of HD box i should be looking at.
Secondly, is it possible to get a good HD box that comes integrated with a DVD/HDD Recorder. Good Guys @ Narre Warren gave me a price of $420 for the panasonic TU-HDT104A and $600 for the LG RH7521W DVD recorder. Is it possible to have one equipment do the entire job. Also do i need HDMI output since the Pan TV comes with one. I need expert advice please.

From what I can see, it is only a SD panel that can downconvert HD signals. None the less the downconverted HD on your screen will look better than SD, especially since your screen has HDMI, and a STB will have DVI. You can get a DVI to HDMI adapter that will keep your signal digital, or at least use a VGA cable. Another benefit to a HD STB is the possibility of dolby 5.1 surround sound, although this is rarely broadcast. Don't get the Panasonic, the whole forum is full of complaints for this box... the LG DVD recorder sounds good, but maybe a little pricey? Shop around... I have the Teac, they just put out a new model, apparantly is is fairly bug free... AUSID and HUMAX are also good...

Thanks for caring to reply. Do u any suggestions as to what price i should be looking at for the LG DVD/HDD Recorder and which shop i could possibly source it from in Melbourne. Maybe i should also say that i am actually paying $3950 for the 42" HD Panasonic plasma TH42PV500A, is this pricey too? Pls i need suggestions as i am yet to fully pay them and can still divert my money to other products
