Hi all,

I have a Topfield TF5000pvrt which I think is excellent. I also have an Apple iMac G5 computer which I also think is excellent.

My question, if you haven't already guessed, is how do I get the image from the Toppy onto the Macintosh, then be able to burn the image to DVD in the Video_TS / Audio_TS file format?

If anyone knows, I would much appreciate to know too!

Thanks in advance.

G5. Lucky. OK:

(1.) Connect Topfield to Mac with a suitable USB cable. (If not done already).
(2.) Go to: http://www.alfanet.it/squared5/mpegstreamclip.html and download the latest version of "MPEG Streamclip".
Have a good read of the site as there's lots of info there.
(3.) Use the ALTAIR option to open the Topfield HD on your Mac. Select REC files to download.
(4.) Download takes a while. Wait.
(5.) When download is complete open REC file in "MPEG Streamclip".
(6.) Use "Fix Timecode Break" option to ensure file is OK.
(7.) Edit REC file as required.
(8.) Export in desired format.
(9.) Use DVD software to build and burn project.

It's a very nice program, you shouldn't have any trouble working it out.
Experiment with it. Works well with Toast & DVD Studio Pro.

Hope that helps. Contact me direct if any questions.

I haven't got my Toppy yet but, being an Imac owner too, I've been checking the forums at www.topfield.com.au. Do a search on "mac" and you'll find a whole bunch of stuff, including transferrign to DVD

Pretty much as phase52001 said, but there are a few additions I can add. If you want, you can open the .rec up in StreamClip while it is still on the Toppy (ie streaming it). Then you can do any edits and then choose to save as MPG (or demux it). Depending on how much is being edited out, this can save time as it only downloads the parts you have decided to keep.
If you want free DVD software, try Sizzle (there's a pdf guide to using it on the Toppy.co.uk site), but I really recommend Toast for simplicity and ease-of-use. Just add the mpg(s) (or m2v if demuxed) to the Video tab and hit burn.

Thanks people for your brilliant responses. I have downloaded MPEG Streamclip last night and had a bit of a play. It seems to work fine. I will have to have another go at it tonight after work to get it down pat.

Thanks very much again.

Todd
