I'm thinking of buying the LG as it seems to have everything - handles all formats (+and -) DivX playback, Dual Layer, HDMI connection, Memory card slots etc etc, but I am wondering about the quality of recording and playback.

I have seen great things said about the higher end Pioneer players with upscaling, but I do want a recorder and the Pio's don't seem to have a really high end one.

Would appreciate some advice as quality is important to me. But then so are some of the other features ie Dual Layer is essential (are there any others besides the LG and Pio?) would prefer multi format playback as i have a collection of previously recorded DVDs of mixed formats. Like the idea of HDMI - must improve PQ - right?

Any ideas?

I was looking at it today, but I must see the manual to check out the other "nitty-gritty" features first. Was unable to access the manual through lge.com.au

Must say I'm starting to go off the LG.

There are a few other threads in this forum which indicate some problems with formats and recording.

Shame, because the 7926 has all the goodies, but not much point if it doesn't do the basics properly.

Haven't been able to find any reviews, so have to go on the limited experience of others.
