Hi, just received my IR remote receiver for the AUSID STB and am learning the commands on my MX600 remote, however am having great rouble getting the on/off toggle (red SYS button) to work. The learning remote seems to register the signal and learn it, however when it transmits it, it does nothing to the STB ... it only switches the screen on/off (50 inch Fuji - US).

Now I know that the AUSID remote sends two signals when the red SYS button is pressed, one to toggle on/off the Fujitsu plasma and the other to toggle on/off the AUSID STB ... however in my case, it is probably only learning the first of these two commands I am assuming.

Just wondering if anyone else has had these issues and if so, how did you overcome it.

The responsivness and reliability of the IR receiver + AUSID combo is great (better than the RF IMHO) ... but I am after an integrated approach to controlling all the components and would hate to have the STB box on all the time or use the original remote just to turn it on/off (sort of defeats the purpose of the IR receiver).

Interested in your feedback.
Thanks guys.

Yep Ive got the same problem. I rang Ausid and they told me to get the learning remote to learn the green button as this turns on the Ausid .
With both my remotes sadly its still a hit or mis thing though sad.gif

Thats what I had thought, but I tried that green button also but that didn't seem to do the trick either. In any respect, even if it could successful transmit that command to the AUSID, again there is no way in sending the OFF command.

Such a shame that such a great STB with exceptional PQ should have such an issue. Most people that have purchased the optional AUSID IR would potentially have done so for integration with a universal learning remote .... surely its can't be that hard to replicate the toggle on/off command. If there could be a way of only getting the remote to send the STB signal instead of the panel signal as well, that would do the trick.

Might have to see what further advise John can suggest from AUSID.

Thanks for the reply.

I hope you have better luck than me.

Guys

I have been playing with one of my learning remotes and have ot turning on both the Fujitsu and AUSID without fault

Not sure yet if the Harmony can do it but i have programmed mine to activate the on button for the Fujitsu for 2 seconds and has not failed

Glenncol, what remote are you using? I am using the MX600 and have been able to learn the red SYS IR code from the AUSID remote, but it only seems to switch on/off the Fujitsu, does nothing at all to the AUSID STB. Same goes for the green TV button. (Its almost as if it learns just one of the IR codes that are transmited by the red SYS button of the AUSID and not both).

Did you have to do anything special to get your universal remote to learn both the IR commands that are transmitted by the AUSID when the red SYS button is pressed? I have managed to get all the other commands learnt, but the on/off is my big sticking point.

Do you know if there is a way to get the AUSID remote to transmit only the AUSID IR signals?

P.S. Just have to also say that the 50 US Fujitsu rocks ... I can only imagine what the PQ will be like after calibration. Mind blowing !!

Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated.

Hi jlambas, got it from AUSID themselves.

Send an email to AUSID (info@ausid.com) stating your intent and contact number. They will contact you for payment details.

Cost is $65 + GST + $11 p/h. All up it was $82.50. AUSID is based in Sydney, however the $11 p/h is for courier and I must admit the delivery is fast! I ordered on the Wednesday afternoon and had the courier at my door at 8am the next day. Now thats service !!!

Works well and quite reliable actually, however I am still having trouble replicating the on/off command on my universal remote. Dealing with AUSID at the moment to resolve this issue.

Hope this info helps.

I have seen a "problem" similar to this before.

A Yamaha 2400 receiver remote would learn a NEC Plasma on and also the stand by button onto a single button.
You have to put the remote (Yamaha) into learning mode, then quickly press on followed by stand by on the NEC remote.

These two seperate codes were learned onto the one button and would also work with a Zensonic and Pronto remote when learned from the Yamaha.

Problem arose when Yamaha changed the remote with the 2500 receiver.
Only the first code was learned or able to be used.

Might go have a play with the Ausid remote and a Pronto to grab all codes possible later today.

Something to try would be hold the ausid remote key down for an extended period when learning, or give it two quick presses.

The shop does not have the IR receiver, can not test all possibilities at the current time.

wow that aint cheap for an I/R receiver... these things never are it seems smile.gif

Is there anywhere the AUSID IR thingy can be bought, other than from AUSID directly? Any stores stock them?

cheers smile.gif

An update for all AUSID users affected by the inability of their learning remote to learn the on/off command of the AUSID.

Spoke to the company responsible for developing the remote control for the AUSID HD-D1 STB and unfortunately at time of its design, they did not include a way of getting/forcing the remote to transmit the AUSID commands only via IR. Looks like learning the on/off command for the AUSID will still be an issue for the majority of people.

He did indicate however that its something they will definitely consider in their next implementation of the STB remote … maybe opening the way for a “swap-over” for current HD-D1 affected users smile.gif.

I know it has been a while for this topic, but has anyone got an update ?
