Has anyone connected their Wintal PVR-X10 to a TV using an s-video signal over a SCART to SCART cable?
This does not work for me.
I am using quite an expensive Crest SCART cable which I would have expected was fully wired.

If you're going in via SCART, why not use RGB instead? It'll look much better than S-Video.

I'm doing this with the Digicrystal 9000 (which is essentially the same box) and it works fine for me.

Scart to Scart cable is no problem, you need to make sure that you have the signal output set to Y/C in the menu, you may also need to make a similar setting in the setup menu of your monitor.

I would use RGB, and in fact thought I was, except I believe the recent postings with replies from Wintal about the PVR-X10 not actually doing RGB are correct. Even though the menu has this option it only outputs composite when this is selected.
I verified this by feeding the output with the Wintal setting on RGB to a TV input which does not support RGB and it worked.
When connected to an RGB capable input, I switched between composite and RGB output on Wintal and there was absolutely no difference in the picture.

As to SCART to SCART s-video, I set the Wintal to Y/C signal output, connected via the SCART cable to a SCART TV input which is supposed to be s-video capable - but the picture was only black and white. There are no settings on the TV to adjust - (I rang Panasonic to confirm this as well) - it is supposed to autodetect. Panasonic indicated it must be the cable.
As I already spent $50 on this cable to ensure it was a high quality fully wired cable I am not keen on spending more on another one.

I'm not sure on the Wintal, I know for certain that RGB and S-Video definately work with the Digicrystal box via a Scart to Scart cable, I was doing some A-B testing against the new twin tuner box using a monitor with Scart inputs that supported S-Video, RGB via Scart and the OSD correctly identified which signals were being detected at the time. Perhaps there is some variation with the Wintal box, as far as I was aware the hardware is the same, perhaps there is a software difference though, have you updated the firmware at all? Many of the Wintal boxes are running an older version.

I am currently running Grobi 3.40B.

Also, someone asked Wintal directly and they replied that the Wintal only supports composite and s-video despite the software having the RGB option.

Ok, perhaps there is some hardware difference between them then.

OK. the s-video problem solved.
In some cases not only do you have to select the AV input you then have to cycle through the possible signal types that might be connected to it.
Pity the Panasonic Customer Care people did not know this.

I'm using RGB with the wintal and a Loewe Credo and i personally think it gives a clearer brighter pic, better than i get when i set it to svideo Y/C.

They REPLIED??!!!

It's a miracle!!!!

FWIW, I'd take anythying Wintal has to say about this PVR with a grain of salt. We here seem to know the unit way better than they do.
