Hi

I have found a decent price on the LG RT-50PX10. I would appreciate any comments or views about the product from ppl who have sited or purchased. technical replies only please!

The 42 inch PY10X and the 50 inch model are very impressive. For what its worth the 42 inch left everyone's favourite 'Fujitsu' in its wake in a recent shootout at PC world. And approx $1.5k cheaper. I would not be surprised if this 50 inch model might possibly embaress the equivalent 'Fujitsu' and others, if there was an unbiased shootout. I am no expert, but from what I have seen the PQ on both these models looks great.

Look (here) for the 8 reviews.

Be careful - these reviews really depend on what you are looking for - the number one screen (LG) has only 'middling' (to quote them) HD display quality in their review, whilst the number 8 screen (Fujitsu) has 'very good'.

Personally I would rather my panel displayed a great picture rather than sounded good.

They obviously liked the NEC though.

Lg - .... "But images appeared a bit noisy, and the 42PX4D came in a depressing next-to-last for its ability to display detail; consequently, it ranked only fifth out of the eight tested models for HDTV quality. At least some of the problem seems to be in its display of dark tones. In a high-def TV documentary about the Napa Valley wine country, for example, we saw speckles in what should have been a solid-blue sky. To investigate further, we watched the opening scene of Mystic River: a fade up from black over a grim Boston skyline. Much of the DVD has less-than-perfect image quality, making the sequence trying for any TV, but it looked especially splotchy on the LG."

Just goes to show - horses for courses

J.

One wonders whether they actually calibrated the displays, or did they just test them 'off the shelf'

Thanks for your comment. "Horses for courses is correct. Problem is the system that I am considering to buy is the 50PX10, which is a generation behind (at least in support electronics) the US system reviewed in PCWorld. And that susyem had a differemt resolution (1024x768) than the 50PX10 (1366x768) despite its latger size. So far there has been no review that I can find (but there have been lots of opinions, including some from people who't don't like LGE, but have otherwise no clue about the PDP under question) that has been as current as the system I am considering <sigh!>. I would appreciate a comment from someone who has purchased one and has after sales comments but presumably they are off watching State of origin (GO Blues!) on their new TV

Cheers

Dr Glen,
You should post this on the on the other forum below this one 'widescreen tv monitors and displays' which gets a lot more coverage. You would more likely find someone who has actually purchased.
