Hi Guys,

Long time reader, first time poster.

I've recently purchased the above Plasma ($2900 with stand, upgraded cables, delivered and installed) and have the following 2 questions:

1. What are the recommended picture (color, brightness, contrast, tint etc) settings? I realise this is largely in the eye of the beholder, but would recommend any suggestions.

2. I've read a few different opinions regarding "running-in" a plasma. The advice from the seller was to simply ensure full screen utilisation and moving pictures for first 100 or so hours. Others have suggested reducing abovementioned settings by 25%. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

I have exactly the same screen and the same deal......

I'm running at that "stock settings minus 25%" and keeping the screen full as much as possible and that seems to be the "accepted wisdom" in the first 100 hours.

I have access to a computer-based calibration system and will use it after the 100 hours-ish is up.

I'm very happy with it already, will be interesting to see how much improvement will be in it.
My settings in a this environment may end up different to what is optimal elsewhere but I'd be happy to share them with you if interested.

FYI I'm using the AUSID-HD1 box and the combo seems great to me.

Thanks for your response SonicNirvana.

Any assistance on the callibration would be much appreciated.

Im also very happy with the NEC - Looks we got the same screen on pretty much the same day, same price, same vendor and we're both in the Blue Mountains (i read one of your later posts - Im in Glenbrook).

Nice work

When I get to 100 hours and hook up the computer and get some numbers I'll let you know.
Just as it is I'm very happy with it, but I just know some tweaking will be a good thing.

This may be of some use as well:
