I i am considering buying one of these digicrystal set top boxes. Currently i have a DGTEC 2000A (footy) and im going to sell it and use the money to buy a digicrystal. What i want to know is can i hook it up to my data projector and get RGB/VGA or component picture quality? Or is SVHS the best i can get out of the scart conection?
Many thanks.

It will do RGB and s-video through the scart but no componenet.

thanks.
Im still a little confused. Currently i have a VGA lead coming out of my DGTEC box into the VGA input on my epson tw10H projector. IS there an adaptor i can get to go from the scart output and then connect to the VGA lead or do i have to use a different connection?
Thanks again.

RGB comes in different forms and not all are compatible. RGB from scart is different to RGB/VGA. A simple adaptor won't help, you would need some form of active adaptor (one that converts the signal). Not sure if they are widely available...

Depends.
If the projector supports video level composite synch, this is one problem out the way. The next problem is that SCART is SD at SD frequencies, i.e. 50Hz vertical, 15.6kHz horizontal. VGA is typically 60Hz-V 30kHz-H and thus twice the frequency. Some devices with VGA inputs just won't synch down as low as 15.6kHz...
So if it supports both of the above, then you can get a SCART-RGB adapter, and also feed the extra composite output that most boxes have as a 4th conductor to do the synch, and it will work.

here are the input specs i dont really understand them so if you can advise if it will work please do.
ANALOG RGB I/O
Display Performance: Resize 1024 x 768 / 800 x 600 / 640 x 480
Input Signal/Signal Type: Separate Signal
Video Signal: Analog (0.7V pp,75 ohm/ Mac0.714Vpp, 75ohm)
Sync Signal: Separate (positive & negative, bi-polarity 2-5Vpp) / Composite (positive & negative, bi-polarity 2-5Vpp) / Sync-on-green (negative, 0.3Vpp) /
CVBS (1.0Vpp / Sync.negative, 75ohm)
Input Terminal Video:Mini D-sub 15pin x1 Blue-molding
RCA x 4 (Red / Green / Blue / Yellow) (in common with Component Video
and Composite Video terminal)
I also found this if it helps:
H-Sync Range: 15.0 - 92.0kHz
V-Sync Range: 50 - 85Hz

Yep, you can simply use a SCART to RGB (and composite synch) adapter, pity none exist, so simply a SCART to RGB and hookup the extra composite output (if the STB has one!) to the synch.
This is composite video level synch in your spec: CVBS (1.0Vpp / Sync.negative, 75ohm)
This is normal PAL level H-Synch 15kHz
This is normal PAL level V-Synch 50Hz
So I think it is a goer.
The only thing is you will need to wire up a VGA connector with R,G,B and composite synch cables too...

Thanks. Only problem im not that cabable of making such a conection. Is there not one available to buy that is cheap?

I don't know whwre you are located but this company (in Brisbane) have a suitable connector and can make anything else that you might need on a custom basis.
http://www.designdata.com.au/I purchased a VGA to Component adaptor (VGA 15 pin to 3 x RCA) last week.
You will also need a separate RCA to RCA cable for the composite Sync.

thanks i actually live in Brisbane. Which cable adaptor do i get?
Option 1
do i get a scart to component?
Option 2
do i get a scart to VGA 15pin?
and do i also need a rca to rca for the composite signal? On the projector you select which input to use and if i choose the VGA input or component input how will it also know to include the composite signal?
Sorry for all the question but thanks to all of you for your help.
ps would something like this do the job?

P.S. No - I'm not associated with them. I just found them very helpful last week when I was buying cables and connectors for projector a installation in our boardroom at work.
