I'd be interested to know as well. Can't justify spending much - only want to replace a dying VCR.

Beware of what you are buying.

The "silver" model Aldi are selling doesnt have a tuner ! It might have a timer, but it will only record TV if you have something connected through the AV inputs.

Even worse than that ..... It doesnt have a Digital tuner !!!

I have seen a "Black" model at Aldi, that did have a tuner inbuilt, but don't remember seeing this one advertised.

Thanks David,
I only want it to back up shows from my foxtel IQ and strong 5390, so the lack of tuner will not be a problem.
I believe this one will be silver (pic on their website)
My main problem is likely to be macrovision, but i understand tis only effects certain shows,

As far as I know there are no DVD recorders on the market in Australia with digital tuners.

Peter

A guy at work bought one of the Aldi DVD writers. Although it doesnt say anywhere on the box that it has an inbuilt tuner, the manual made a couple of one line references to recording from the tuner.

On start up, it tuned in all the stations. Now ...only if it were digital !

Happy shopping

Keep an eye on their web site. The DVD recorders seem to come up in the "surprise buys" about once a month.
