I'm looking to add a pair of home theatre chairs to my set up as my current lounge doesn't have any neck support and becomes quite tiring during extended viewings.

At Harvey Norman I saw some leather Lazyboy Rialto recliners for $1200- each which seem to fit the bill perfectly.

What do you have in your set up, how much was it, and what do you recommend from your own personal experience?

I got 4 leather home theater recliners with cup holders and food storage facilities in arm rests for about $3500 at Furniture Galore.

Definitely worth a look smile.gif

I bought a blue leather lounge suite with two recliners - no head rest needed as they are so comfy and you just sink in. $4K bargained down to $3.4 as salesperson is a friend. They also have relatively thin armrests which is important if you want to share the centreline sweetspot on the screen.
My main problem is keeping awake in the damn things after a big dinner!! As they get older (as do I) they seem to get more comfy.
Some drinks holders would have been good also - but we get by.

There is a 4 recliner unit there which is pretty cool, has the cup holder / wine holders built into the arms as well.

toecutter, I see you're in the inner west of Sydney so try the new Impact Furniture store on Parramatta Rd at Homebush (on your right heading to Parramatta). They have full leather recliners on special for $600.

I'm not fussed on leather (cold in winter, sticky in summer) so I got a pair of huuuge microsuede recliners for $500 each that have removable, zippered panels so you can vary the padding to suit yourself. I'm 6'5" and the top of the backrest is above my head so you'd have no worries about support - unless you're like 7' tall.

With these beauties, paying an extra $300 to $700 for a dedicated home theatre cupholder just isn't worth it biggrin.gif

AVroom that store (and the prices) sound awesome. I'll be heading out there on my next day off.

Yeah - leather's nice, but microsuede (while not cheap) makes plenty of sense.

BTW: Its amazing what some people spend on seating in bigger (stepped) HTs, when most of the seats would be lucky to find a couple of butts a year, and they end up choosing a mediocre pj! wacko.gif

That's why I'm only buying two seats. Guests can use the beanbag.

That's the attitude! wink.gif
Guests share the beanbag (with the cat/dog/gran/asylum-seeker/whatever... wacko.gif )

LOL

Truth is I usually take the beanbag when the guests are around. I like using it as an excuse to lie on the floor. I also have a three seater lounge for guests (recliners will be replacing the two seater lounge which goes with the set)

If I were rigging a large HT, and were in America (esp. in LA like the MythBusters), I'd simply go to a either an auction or salvage site and pick up some first/business-class airline seats (as I think I've mentioned here before). Bloody cheap, incredibly strong, and designed for sitting for horrendous amounts of time in!
Unfortunately, I wasn't in a position to get anything when the Ansett spares/etc were auctioned (dunno if they had them, but they certainly had just about everything else!).

U aint wrong. The Ford Discovery Museum in Geelong uses good car seats in one of there mini theaters and it was actually damm comfortable - fully adjustable and all.

Leather is suppose to be acoustically bad also - suppose to cause big reflections. The white paper boys tend to put thick cloth / towels over them when not occuppied during a session.
