sad.gif Guys, I need your help, I own a Harman Kardon dvd22 which gives a beautiful picture via component, & is supposedly able to play virtually all discs in - & + formats. I am in the market for a dvd recorder & was about to purchase a Pioneer 520h, & to play it safe a forum member burnt a R- disc ( thanks James Boag) & sent it to me.
Guess what? it doesnt play in my $450 player, but plays in every other player I can get my hands on ( Sony, Lg, Toshiba, Onkyo, D.S.E $69.00 special P.O.S!). I contacted H.K who stated this is a first( B.S) ,& try another media brand. James was then kind enough to post me a recording made on a TDK DVD R- disc, same result!.
Ive given up on being able to play DVDR- discs( even though the PQ on the pioneer recording was awsome in Fine setting). Now the only other machine Id consider is the Sony 900 HDD Recorder as this does both DVD+ &-, is their any one out there who owns this unit or a 700 who could send me a recording off a stb in fine mode in R+ format.
I will post you blanks , postage etc, please help as Sony cant or wont help, & I cant find a retailer who has them set up, let alone know how to use them!
Thanks Amy

Are you sure it is the minus format media that the Harmon Kardon dislikes?. I have a (POS) Magnavox DVD recorder that records dvd+r's that will play in all but one of my dvd players. On that player if I re-author the dvdr to any + or - media the fussy player will play it no problem. The Pioneer recorder may have a file size/structure that the HK detests. My own recorder will generate 4 vob files no matter how full the disc is & vary the vob file size to suit, this is where the problem may be. Running the recorded dvdr through one of the free encoders (dvdshrink) may give better compatibility.
