I didn't noticed till it was too late that my Toppy hadn't switched on as programmed.
Thus I missed "The Armageddon Factor" Pt.03 from Dr.Who.
If any kind person can assist me, please contact me privately.
Many Thanks in advance.

I still have NO idea why the Toppy failed. It was a regular scheduled recording.
I eventually reset all the pre-programmed recordings, I didn't delete them, just went through and checked and "reserved" them all again. All very odd. It's been working fine since.

If you have auto time set (the default) turn it to manual. Otherwise this won't be the last missed recording you'll have...

Thanks John.
I was beginning to suspect exactly that. oddly enough I got yelled at on another thread for asking which was better, auto or manual. I was told 'auto".

No copy of AF3 then?

If you are in Perth, then the problem was more likely thanks to the steaming pile o' shyte that is ABC WA, atm...

Sorry, phase but no copy of AF3 either.

Must have been a while ago that someone unilateraly favavoured auto-time. As a concept its great, as a practicle tool for the Toppy its pretty useless. Anyway have a read of the All Questions Asnwered thread that's PINNED for some more laid back comments in this area.

It may be nothing to do with auto time. The TF5000PVRt ocasionnally fails to boot up for a scheduled timer recording, even on manual time, which I always use. I have never seen a good explanation of why this behaviour is so irregular. It certainly can happen with the two latest versions of firmware (Dec 2004 and March 2005), and from memory also happened with earlier versions.

Just to confuse you, I've had my Toppy on autotime since January 2004 and have never had the problem so often discussed here. BUT then I live in Sydney, do not use any TAPs and keep the Toppy in standby until I either want to record or view something (ususally both as I time shift everything by couple of days every evening for 2-3 hours).

The only times I have had problem with time is the upto 10 minute variation in broadcast times by the stations and when my microwave decided to develop earth leakage during a recording session and took all the power circuits down with it. wacko.gif

I guess that I am a bit of an oddity in this respect but I wanted to even the record a liitle bit biggrin.gif

My biggest annoyance is being thrown out of watching a recording when a new one starts.
