I can't see anywhere on that link where it says if the tuner is digital or as I suspect is only analogue.

good news peeps
i have some spec on the lg7521
im going to choose the lg over the new pana E50h

not much difference to the 4940 but this model is dual layer + (not a real selling point for me)
i have been assured that the audio sync problem for the 4series has been corrected.
i called the customer help line but for most info i downloaded the manual.
retailing up here in rainy gold coast for $799 i think though most places should have them soon. some do and some dont.
thanks to the 3 people who replied to my forum postings but this is my choice of machinery.
cant wait to see it drop in value as the months go by!

There are four preset recording quality modes:
HQ – Highest quality setting, gives about 1 hour of
recording time on a DVD (4.7GB).
SQ – Default quality, sufficient for most applications,
gives about 2 hours of recording time on a DVD
(4.7GB).
LQ – Slightly lower video quality, gives about 4 hour
of recording time on a DVD disc (4.7GB).
EQ – Lowest video quality, gives about 6 hour of
recording time on a DVD (4.7GB).

HDD (80GB): Approx. 20 hours (HQ mode), 40 hours (SQ mode),
74 hours (LQ mode), 111 hours (EQ mode)

Ideas change and, like you, I'm no longer too concerned about dual layer. The blanks are a lot more expensive than single layer and I'm finding the bulk of what I want to archive is under 90 minutes (about the limit of tolerance for video quality in the system here). Breaking up long programs to several discs is no real problem. To stay sitting dowen for up to 1 hour 5 minutes is not much different to listening to a CD when all said and done!

BUT it would be nice to have a DVD-R with all the present Pioneer 720H goodies but incorporating a digital tuner, digital audio input & RGB video in. So far the 160 gb hard drive is proving enough.
