Got a small problem that I thought I'd throw to the learned members of this forum.
We've managed to scrape together enough money from a side budget to purchase a DVD Recorder as a quick and easy way of archiving our stories and programs (personal highlight reels, sending pilot programs to the powers that be, etc.). Because our option is either Composite analog or SDI digital for output, it looks like we're stuck with the composite for a record source.
At this point it's a toss up between the Panasonic DMR-E55 and the Pioneer DVR-320. We have no need for anything beyond that, i.e. Hard Disk recorder, and all it will be used for is recording programs straight off the editing machine or tape source.
I've heard a lot of kudos for both machines and companies, but also accusations that the Pioneer has issues with recording Composite in, and the Panasonic only likes top quality DVD media.
And so I open this topic up to those with the knowledge. Obviously they're both fine machines for what we're after. I'm just wanting to know which has the least down-side.
Thanks all.
