dpanda has them for $499, have had good service from them before, also will be connecting to an old Sony 68cm tv (approx 1995) via s-video. is this a viable option until I upgrade to a plasma etc for recording tv?

Nice to know they've dropped the price again.
Checked with them 2 weeks ago and they were door-to-door delivering for $509. Ended up getting one locally though, and it's worth every cent.

Another thread in this section cites a problem with the 5390, concerning the power supply in the 80GB model. Hopefully they've rectified this in the newer version. My new 5390 is pulling only 45-50% signal from a TX at 90 degrees to my antenna (needs aligning obviously) with solid pictures. Connected via RCA's to my 15 year old 4:3 TV. Goodbye analogue!!

I can get the 80GB model in Black only for $399, which is a "sort of Trade price"! I have developed a good working relationship with a local Antenna etc. wholesaler and even though I am not a "Tradey" they let me buy at wholesale, including antennas, quad 4 cabling (0.60 per metre in 100 metre rolls) and F connectors etc. plus their various STBs and PVRs.

Any warranty poblems and they ship back to Strong in Melb.

At this price, get 2 and have your own "Toppy" alternative (Hi Foss:)).
