I have just gone out and bought myself a Toshiba RD-XS32 DVD recorder and am having a few issues connecting it to my set top box.

I have connected it to my TV's component input, and get analog TV and DVD playback displayed ok. Cool.

For my STB, the guy at the store sold me an s-video to scart cable and told me to connect from the svideo (and audio L/R) out of my STB into the scart AV2 port on the back of the RD-XS32, which I have dutifully done.

Unfortunately I am not getting any picture displayed (or sound) on my tv when I select AV2 as my input source. If I select to record from the AV2 input then I do get a picture but it is all distorted - colours are all wrong, and picture seems to "roll" from side to side and I don't get any sound either.

If I hook the STB through to the video and audio L/R inputs on the front of the RD-XS32 then everything works a treat.

Anybody have experience hooking one of these up to a STB?

Thanks in advance!
Dik
Just a couple of quick thoughts, and I don't have a DVD recorder or know what inputs & outputs are on either the STB or DVDR. But I would imagine that you are not using the s-video to scart adaptor when you connect to the front of the DVD. So the problaem is probably either that the STB is not configured to output s-video, or the cable/adapter is faulty. Also check the adapter, because I have a scart to s-video adapter I use as an output from my PVR and it has a switch on it that must be in the right position.

Best of luck,
Dik
