Wonders never cease. 384k L2 or has AC3 suddenly appeared as well? Can WIN finally be getting its act together?

Tandberg is one of the broadcast equipment companies. They must be using Tandberg equipment.

For those that don't know, it's appearing in the CAT PID (0x0001)

CAT PID as seen in Mackay QLD (*yeah* I know its not Canberra. Mackay is a MUCH MUCH better place to be than Canberra!), shows Scientific Atlanta.

On other STB not rescanned WIN HD is now showing WIN SD program rather than demo loop.

WIN HD still the same in Tasmania. No other commercial HD services available yet.

On closer inspection. LCN80 is nothing (only using an SD Toppy), blank screen, normally I can hear the demo loop sound but there is nothing now and the channel has the padlock icon.

Win HD shows up on some STB's due to information existing in other parts of the transport stream.

Intruiging.

Rescan on DgTEch 2000A still finds 80 showing SD on HD channel Where Hydef doesn't find the HD channel.

They have a good 3.8 mbps free, that should go to WIN HD

Also HD sound is still 192kbps, not like SD's 384

Is your audio still at 384k?

Correction: 11Mb/s (recorded as ~10.7Mb/s in TSReader's bitrate graph and the TS says it's 11Mb/s)).

And it still has the dead AC3 audio.

Yep.

Change is that where they showed audio as DolbyD before (but only got sound on MPEG) they are now showing as MPEG.

It seems to be jumping between the test loop and programming at 1080i here in TAS and has the word test transmission overlaid

WOA nelly! Its chopping and changing from SD to HD now - the audio that is. The video was working for a few minutes and ITS NOW BACK

I think its upconverted? NO WATERMARK!

I should note the words Test Transmission are in that nice font that NINE always use, and its very soft looking, but a nice soft

Looks upconverted although you won't get a true High Defintion experience until they raise the bitrate

Plus is that if I set my STB to audio auto it now detects the audio stream (MPEG).

That cap isnt very complimenty to WIN I must say, I swear the like 8 seconds of ER I have is real HD, I just cant take a capture! Im working on it

I hope they're only using those settings while testing. 1920 @ 11mbits is insane.

Good thing tomorrow is late night shopping. I wonder what the retailers would think if the HD loop went when they were open and a customer was watching it. Even worse, if a customer saw the crosses between ER, the drama promo, colour bars and the loop.

HD loop NOW has 384kbps sound bitrate, to match SD:

Test Transmission line gone. I also saw the other watermark again (what they most likely will use) and the program return graphic (winhdprg.jpg)

I saw it to, I have it in a recording. That watermark is awfull, it is vertically distored for FS.

The video appears to have frozen again, its stuck on the bird. Audio keeps going

I hope that line of Test Transmission isnt there for long, I dont mind it but for retailers (JB Hifi comes to mind ) where they have a wall of plasma's showing WIN HD loop or a stupid Cher concert... Wouldnt the text get burnt in?

And I wish they used that watermark that they have on the loop. It's better than the new one. Just needs to be shrunk by 10% and moved a bit more right (or off the screen )

Its showing Today for me. Hopefully they'll drop it down to 1440 from 1920. Just not enough bits for 1920.

Also, the switching between show/ad break (or should I saw community service/station promos/WIN Digital loop break ) and ad break/show is not that smooth in the vision department.

Today show in HD is just lovely.

I have some caps to share.... But I must say WIN HD is perfect for the Today Show, as no one moves lol just people talking. Camera pans or fast action blocks like crazy... I do have some nasty caps of the blocking (really bad!) but I wont post them yet - wouldnt be very fair of me now would it!

Looks very much like the bitrate causing problems as the background is nice and clean. It's bad enough that going into the Mogo Zoo HD footage, WIN showed the PRG and then the watermark. The watermark went quickly.

Yes the background is fine, perhaps you should fine a moment where she is still... Im at school so i cant really do any captures but I have setup my computer to record 10 mins of Kerry Anne, Fresh, Y&R

I do have other captures in bitmap format but I won't be converting them until later today.

And it is damn hard to take a non-moving picture of Kerri Anne.
