Just looking through the posts, I have not seen the TU-HDT104A mentioned much? Is this a good unit? (when compared to STRONG, LG, HUMAX, TOSHIBA) Has anyone had much to do with this STB?

I've got one and it does the job.
Pretty basic.
It has captions (no teletext).
I have a minor problem with it turning itself on.
I'm sure its something to do with my subwoofer (it goes on too whilst everything else is on stand-by. No noises though because everything else is off).
I'll figure it out eventually.

I've only had my STB 3 weeks but it hasnt missed a beat.
Any interference I've had seems to be a transmission problem that everyone else has got. eg NBN doing work on their HD.

Easy to set up.
Picture I get from it is great.
Its supposed to update its own software(firmware whatever) but I haven't experienced this yet.
The box does get warm but nothing different to my old STB.
The most I've used it for has only been about 5 hours straight.
I'm not tech-minded so hopefully someone else can give us a run down.

The TU-HDT104A has had a few problems mentioned by other members, generally you will get a better HDSTB by going for the TEAC, because it has DVI out and a few less problems and also you can get it for a lot cheaper than the TU-HDT104A.

cheaper than $329?? This seems like a good price for a high definition topbox.

Works great for me, however recently it has started showing a black screen on the TV when the channel is changed, although the STB information still appears on the TV.

It requires the TV to be turned off and back on after a few minutes to reset and then it works fine again.

It might just be a firmware issue - any ideas?

Panasonic web page does not seem to offer any firmware downloads for the TU-HDT104A

There is a software update available, but you are right it's not listed on the website. Panasonic have stated that it is to fix 'a few stbs that have a lock up problem'. Mine doesn't, so I haven't bothered. Really, the only shortcoming of the Panasonic is the absence of a DVI/HDMI output.

Yeah I bought one of these from DJ's for $140! Never had any problems - easy to use, very easy to upgrade.

Funny thing though, the last couple of times 7 has broadcast HD movies with 5.1 sound I have found the centre channel not coming through.

Haven't noticed it with other stations yet? Any one else notice that.. (Shows were Pearl Harbour and Leagally Blonde) last night. Lost last Thursday was fine.... Will be interesting to see if D.Housewives will have this problem too.

Cheers

I absolutely agree about anything from DGTEC.
