Just purchased an ex-demo Sony KVHR32M31 from HN. So far it's superb; TV looks great, DVD's through component look fantastic, and after buying the component cable for my PS2, it looks great too! I notice the difference in the PS2 most of all. It's sharp and the colours are far more vibrant. However, though I've ordered the componet cable for my Gamecube, I wanted to hook it up to the new TV with the old composite cable in the meantime. The picture is terrible! It's hard to describe..sort of looks like a Nintendo 64 displayed with an RF adaptor. Maybe not that bad, but certainly worse than the sort of image I used to get with my 4 year old Sony 68cm Wega. I've tried all sorts of settings, but none seem to make it better. Any ideas what could be wrong? sad.gif

Problem solved. Plugged in the RCA cable from my US Gamecube and all is well. Not that the US cable is any different, I'd say my old one for the Aussie Cube is stuffed, or I just didn't plug it in properly..either way...it's sorted now, and looks fantastic! Can't wait for the component cable now!

It will look stunning with the component cable, especially if your TV suports Progressive Scan.

The Gamecube does look very nice when running in progressive.

Just in case you wanted to know, 480p capable US games are still able to be run in progressive on a PAL GC when using a Freeloader.

I still can't believe Nintendo removed the component jack on the newer machines to cut costs ohmy.gif

I know. Kind of makes it hard to feel sorry for them (Nintendo) not doing so well when they do cheap stuff like that. One question though; My TV has only 2 component inputs, and I need 4. One for the DVD recorder, one for my (soon to be) STB, one for the Playstation 2, and one for the Gamecube. I've seen a product that might be suitable, a 4-way component switchbox from Crest. How do you guys and girls get around this problem?

Oh, and Harvey Norman, where I purchased my TV a few days ago, gave me this advice; just use composite for the Gamecube and PS2. You'll hardly notice the difference! Great advice. Very helpful. I may as well have bought a Centrex TV.

I've got all my component devices hooked up through a regular AV switchbox that you can pick up anywhere for next-to-nothing. It does hard switching internally. I've compared the quality by direct connection to the TV and through the box and I haven't noticed any loss in visual quality.
