Some #@#@#!# knocked over my panasonic during an attempted burglary, and all 80Kg of it came crashing down to the ground. It fell onto it's side from about 1m. Fortunately it still works - the picture is fine. Unfornately it's fall was broken by a dynaudio 72 speaker, which is now dented and scratched.

Just wondering if anyone knows whether it's likely to cause any lasting damage. I shocked that it survived the fall and a bit annoyed that it didn't fall on the thief and pin him to the ground. mad.gif

I still haven't plugged in anything else - there's things rattling around in my dvd player, receiver and toppy, which were dropped in the street outside. Wish me luck!

I suggest you plug and turn on each equipment individually. You don't want to connect any equipment up as one blowing up may cause the other to blow up too. So test out each equipment individually first.

By the way, don't forget to use a long pole to flick on the switch... smile.gif Joke aside, was the tv in its box when it fell over? If so, chances is since it works, it should be ok as those foam are pretty good shock absorber.

Cheers.
p.s. Yes, I like the idea of your humongous tv pinning down the robber. That would make the evening prime time news.

Nah, the TV was just on a wooden stand - he probably tried to slide it off and then found out how much it weighed. Stupid idiot was trying to get it through a window that was about 40cm wide, so good thing I didn't get plasma smile.gif

ohmy.gif Personally I would have kicked in the screen, and claimed a new set on insurance, besides you should still be able to claim new gear. Are you insured?

Topdog
I had a small NEC and I caught my leg on the power cord pulling it off the dressing table and it suffered no damage, not even a crack or scratch. Turned it back on and it has shown no signs of distress after two years or more. If there was any serious damage you'd soon know about it..
