Hi all,
I have a 1060 teac plasma and dvb800 setop box. I spoke to teac about the plasma not working through DVI and they sent out a tech to uprade an internal chip so it now works fine. Picture is great.

What did the upgrade involve - was it simply a software upgrade?

Is DVI now as reliable as VGA?

I emailed Teac to ask about DVI SW upgrades before I discovered it actually worked on my plasma, but I have yet to get a reply to my email - so who did you call for such prompt service?

I called Teac Brisbane as I live in brisbane, they had someone out within the week as they claim to have mobile techs on the road all the time. they had to take the back panel off and put a new chip in it. took about 1/2 hour or so. I wasnt excpecting him to fix DVI problem, I called them as it wasnt working through RGB properly yet the display at DJs in Mt gravatt was. it changed the s/w in menu to **-925

Thanks dan, my software is also -925.

When used with the Teac HD Box and DVI does the screen re-sync if you change output resolutions, or is it a bit temperamental?

FYI: My TEAC 800 ==> DVI >> TEAC 1060 combo changes without any fuss

Thanks Robo. It looks like this is the winning combo.

Thanks for your info about the Teac PLMSDM1060 monitor and DVB800 stb. It was most
informative. I have also connected my units the same way with a DVI-D cable, but the picture now suffers a 40 mm shift to the left, which doesn't happen when connected via component. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have my Teac PLMSM1060 connected to a HTPC via DVI. There has never been any problem with picture symmetry.

Rosco, thanks for your reply. The problem is solved. Before I connected the 1060 with the DVI cable, I was running it via the component connection from the stb. No problems there with symmetry. As I said before, the problem only occured after the DVI came into play. Well, as it turned out, once I went into the 1060 menu, a brand new set of choices became available when operating in RGB (as oposed to the Component1). One of those was to adjust the screen display (shift, stretch etc). The component menu gives more control over picture quality than the RGB menu. The trick was to set the colour, tint etc. in Component mode, then swithch to RGB and DVI to set the screen settings. All's well that ends well. Thanks for your answer anyway. Bill
