I have the LG box connected to my Hitachi 7800 plasma via DVI. Can someone please explain why when I switch to 720p on the LG box, my plasma only display 'No Sync Signal' although there is audio? With 1080i, everything is fine. I have always and probably will always leave it at 1080i but only discover this when I was playing with it just now. Is there any problem or is there a perfectly logical explanation for that?

Just bought a 37PD7800TA with a teac dvb-800 and get the same issue..no sound though. dunno if these issues are related.

I've got an older model of this display which has the same 720p issue with the pansonic hd box. I think this monitor can only display 720 p at 60 Hz whereas the LG and TEAC boxes output 720 p at 50 Hz? 1080i can be displayed at 50 or 60 Hz

(Hitachi specs indicate ... 720p(60), 1080i(50/60)...)

Shano: I think you make sense. Must be the differing frequency. In any case, like I said, I am perfectly happy with the 1080i format which gives such stunning picture quality on my plasma.

This is correct for some reason the Hitachi only supports 720p at 60Hz (NTSC) but 1080i at both 50Hz and 60Hz (PAL & NTSC)

Try turning the DVI input to DVI_PC instead of DVI_STB for 720p.

ritesh: Thanks for the tip. I just tried it out. Got picture with 720p now but it is pushed to the right. Also, I think the PQ is not as good.

Most display devices available in Australia that do 720 only do it at 60hz.
