Hi,

I just purchased a Nordmende STB to replace my (just out of Warrantee) Strong 5390 which had a cooked tuner.....

Anyway I am finding that the remote control is not very sensitive and wont work from my seat (5m away from the TV and Unit). I have also programmed it into a Pronto Universal remote and this is even worse in its range... I need to be 3-4m away and front on (or nearly so) to the unit to get it to work.

I am wondering if I should return or swap my unit - depending if this is a common problem with the Nordmendes???? IE If they just are not very sensitive IR wise then I need a different brand otherwise a replacement unit!

Yes I found I couldn't register button presses from about 4m away, it was very weak.

Surprising the universal remote doesn't have any effect.

You could try swapping it for another but since I've had the same results you could assume it would be the same.

Not the best remote.

I picked up a nordmende box, I was surprised how good the box is... My reception of most channels is marginal but the nordmende box picked all em pretty well..

However the remote is another story.. I found it awful. The buttons are very spongy and have a poor response time. I can't comment on the distance, because I never use it further than 2/3m, but the replacement remote (zensonic z150) works fine..

The normende remote is pretty awful, especially compared to the foxtel digital remote, which I think is very good, solid, quick and tough smile.gif ...
