Hi there

I thought I'd make one last attempt to contact anyone at Teac who is reading this to find out about the next software upgrade for the DV-B420.

Basically I'm dying to know if the upgrade will improve things such as adding more sound blanking and hearing no sound instead of the scratch/pop. I believe doing this would also fix the problem that many of us get when channel changing and getting the same noise.

Please, if you could let us know of some of the details of the upgrade, then I/we can decide to keep our DV-B420's despite the upgrade being 3 months away, with the knowledge that it will be almost certainly fixed when the upgrade does finally arrive in February.

Here's what I know:

The Teac DV-B350 handles sound breakups and impulse noise by blanking the sound.

The Nordmende KMDG46 handles it the same way.

The Teac DV-B300 software upgrade claims to have made "Improvements to reduce impulse noise popping effects."

Please Teac, could you do the same for the DV-B420!!??

I know there are some other problems that other people are complaining about with the 420 (subtitles, RF interference etc.) so please add them to this thread in hope that TEACSTB will read this.

And as I seem to be the one asking for the subtitle change, and no longer have a 420, you can strike it off the list if it gets others a change quicker.
(unless of course others have asked for subtitle change as well)

Yes that was my first reaction, I've emailed them many times about it, finally getting a response from Fabian a while ago but he just said it was under review and should be corrected in the next upgrade. If I'm gonna keep the 420 I want to be sure that it will have the problem completely fixed (as others probably do) which is why I'm asking for more info.

I didn't think the CC hanging was much of a problem at first but it is just starting to get irritating now! I see what you mean, I hope it gets fixed.

I'm on a real low right now, just had ch10 signal quality drop to about 50% tonight for about 6hrs (and still counting). Yet another problem *sigh*, it's the first time it's done this, I wonder, does it have something to do with me temporarily connecting the Nordmende today and re-connecting the Teac? It is only ch10 that is affected, all others are still 100%. I'm completely baffled, I had complete faith in my antenna holding 100% signals 24hrs a day wacko.gif

You can totally tell I have no life, all I do is find problems with my STB(s) and come on here and complain mellow.gif
