Hi

I recently hooked up my VCR to my STB via the STB's 3xRCA sockets so I could record off it, and have noticed the sound quality coming out of the SCART drops considerably when both the RCA sockets and SCART connection are being used at the same time. It sounds a bit like the sound is actually lower kbps. There is also a lot more noise (similar to the hissing you get with FM analogue). I hooked up a pair of headphones and cranked the volume up and plugged the RCA audio cables in and out and could definitely hear the difference in sound. Most chances are if you are on a mono TV with a small speaker you may not notice it.

I know there is a technical reason for this 'cause in the past I have tried to connect 2 RCA audio jacks to the same sockets using Y-adaptors and got some interference with that.

Has anyone else noticed this or know why it happens, or if there is any fix because I like to timer record off digital?

Thanks
Craigus
I assume that it's something to do with loading of the outputs, which I wouldn't have expected to be a problem. If'n you're handy with electronics, you could probably lash together a simple analogue buffer stage with lower output impedance.

Hmm...thanks, but I know nothing about electronics!

Think I'll need another selector box or something...dammit

Upon removing the RCA video cable from the STB it seems to have improved the picture quality aswell, is there a bit less 'noise' on the screen? Maybe it's just a placebo effect...I'm a bit nuts when it comes to this sort of thing biggrin.gif
