Previously I used to record some programs on my VCR to watch at a later time in the week. Since I don't get great reception, I would record from my set-top box.

Some time about a month ago (approx 15th Sept), when I try and record any digital transmissions, they only show up in B&W.

Has anyone else experienced this? I suspect that it is something that has been turned on with the transmission.

Does anyone know how to get around this - or is there no way that I can record my digital TV onto a VCR?

I am using SD box through my amp, picking up the signal back into the VCR.
I have done this hundreds of times before mid sept - but now can't do it

This happened to me with my Samsung. I reset the STB to factory defaults and re-installed. Solved the problem.

With my Topfield 3000T, if you're outputting SVHS via Scart, then the yellow RCA composite plug tried to output S-video as well, and it came out B & W.

Hence, either use a VCR scart output if avaliable or change settings to output via CVBS instead of SVHS.

It's just a cheapie... I think it's a Kaon
The good ol' JB Hifi special.
Appeared to work fine for the last 6-8 months

Which was in response to datvman's post:

Check your output signal and make sure it is set to AUTO or PAL.

Thanks all...
It appeared that Betje had the solution that solved it for me.
Reset everything to the factory defaults and it is as good as new.

Very strange why it did it at all in the first place.
I actually discovered that it changed half way through a program that I had taped. So I ended up with half the program in normal colour, and half the program in black & white.

Cheers
