Hi, I'm new to this forum and my name's Matt! I was just thinking if Network TEN and/or 7 would want to create movie channels on Digital Television?!
They could make these channels with movies, mini-series' etc and show them on two channels (one 2-3 hour delay like on Foxtel) (I don't have Foxtel but seen it at friends houses'!) so anyone can watch them! Just an idea for TV stations to think about! Thanks!

Some receivers have the card slot already. But I think your idea will remain at the idea stage till a lot on this forum are dead and buried.

What's the card slot for ?! I'm reading this forum and it's interestings but somethings (words) i dont know what they mean!

The current law prohibits multi-casting. That means, by law, all SD and HD streams (channels) aired by a single broadcaster must show exactly the same content.
You can be sure that if multi-casting was allowed, all broadcasters would be doing it (in preference to HD) as in Australian market quantity is more important than quality.

card slot is for a subscription card. Possibly the greatest hurdle (regulation aside) to current FTA providors spawning PAY offshoots is that they would have to agree on a common encryption infrastructure. After all, I doubt many viewers would stand for having to swap between two or 3 sub cards just to change channels.

Now can you see 7, 9 and 10 actually agreeing in common infrastructure when they can't even see eye to eye on what HD broadcasting is? Sure they set up a joint company for TX maintennance in the capitals, but....
