Recorded the epic 2011 Preliminary Final this morning, but partway through the first quarter, the iQHD rebooted itself for like 3 mins and missed a bit of the recording.

What is the new firmware update about?

Don't worry, that game isn't worth watching

BigVic, was the recording only missing the 3 minutes or so it took to update/reboot?

If so this is a big improvement over the previous remote update/reboot procedure that would delete all of the active recording and restart when it rebooted, resulting in the "Cancelled: Code [6]" error message.

First three mins missed due to upgrade reboot. But the other show (Liverpool v Tottenham) was recorded in full.

Why is now programs to be recorded highlighted in red?

I like the red highlighting.  Saves me having to check the planner or open the info box to see the 'To be recorded' text to be sure I have set something to record.

So much easier to find the recording just by checking whether or not the program is highlighted in red on the EPG. Very smart move by Foxtel and is Sky in the UK doing the same?

The best firmware improvement is the planner program deletion confirmation.  Ie. program deletion with the yellow button must now be confirmed with the selection button.  This confirmation should prevent those infuriating 'multiple deletions' where 2 or more programs immediately below the intended program are deleted as well, because of an accidental yellow button multiple press, poor remote infrared signal, incorrect universal remote setup, etc. Thanks Foxtel!

I love the new feature to confirm to delete so that I do not delete my show accidently in my planner, an also the red highlight on the program that is due to be recorded is a great feature. Fantastic move by Foxtel :)

Does anyone find their IQ noticeably laggy and slower, like when scrolling through your planner or when it flips to the next page?

My father in law has been getting constant forced software reloads for the last couple of days, has anyone else had this problem?

We haven't had any problems, but we are on cable and he is on satelite.

Cheers

Tell hime to unplug the box from power....shouldn't constantly update-box probably has a problem often caused by a failed software update.

Firmware? Software? lets just call it Foxware, maybe who caresware!

Update, I drove across town and did a signal check yesterday afternoon.  Signal Strength is OK but Quality is just  terrible, Tuners 2/3/4 have Quality in the red with frequent "unlocked" signals.  This is obviously stopping the Foxware (I like it) update completing.  Foxtel swapped the box this morning, same problem.  So it's a cabling issue from the communal dish, that's a Telstra call out.

Bugger, always a issue getting those probs sorted....
Does your dad have any mates in the same village with the same problem? if yes then issue would be village's infrastructure.
Did the tech check signal coming in from the cable behind the wallplate-could be a faulty f-connector, bad termination or faulty/incorrect barrell -  due to the poor pay rates and crappy working conditions tech's don't spend enough time trouble shooting.

There is a village local to me that had many issues, tech's were getting plenty of service calls from it and the village constantly ignored the problem-I hope it gets sorted for your dad soon.

My father in law is non technical, but when I asked he did confirm that the tech plugged a black box into the wall socket, ran a test and confirmed that the signal was crap.   I have harassed the complex administrator as there isn't an aerial in the complex so no Foxtel = no TV.

Cheers
