Why don't they have a PINNED section for the current\latest Best voted TV for Plasma and LCD?
Plasma\LCD of the YEAR cost no factor.
I understand it changes but the Pioneer held the mantle for a long time!

If you want to create and maintain a pinned thread then ask a mod to help you.
But IMO a 'cost no factor' award is of little use to 99% of people who visit this forum.

People who want and are prepared to pay for a "cost no factor" TV are out of luck, they are no longer produced.

Again IMO, TV makers are struggling to add PQ improvements to their sets these days (its possible, but just not cost effective for them yet). Hence the push into 3D and "Smart TVs" - Neither technology being of much appeal to me.

Whats a really good 50 inch plasma at the moment? What price is worth considering for a quality product? Which brand....only PANA and Samsung worth considering?

One thing people need to remember, in situations where you need the extra brightness of LCD, it's most unlikely you'll be viewing a HQ picture.

Some people fall in love with a tv because they like the shiny bezel or for it's publicised perfomance specs that are usually quite false. They get off on the brag value.
Different factors are more important to some than others also. Believe it or not some people dont mind if they have to bin their very disposable set after one year of use. They still recommend them to others.
One brand that is frequently raved over in forums was mentioned to me by a high volume AV retailer as having the highest out of the box failure rate. I was not surprised, knowing of that brands reputation for many years.
It is all marketing... and the gullible public.
