GET READY FOR MULTICHANNELS IN THE RIVERINA MIA
A television revolution is about to sweep the Riverina MIA with the WIN Network set to deliver viewers more choice with the commencement of multi channels.
In addition to WIN, 7 and TEN programming, viewers in the Griffith and Hay region will be able to receive the commercial digital multi channels. A staggered roll out of the multi channels will commence late January 2012.
WIN Network Manager Legal, Regulatory & Network Affairs Shirley Brown said, “The start-up of the Mt Bingar and Hay multichannel transmitter delivering all the digital multi channels broadcast by WIN is the culmination of planning and negotiation with the Federal Government, the Australian Communications & Media Authority and the broadcasters so that this milestone could be achieved.”
The Mt Bingar and Hay transmission sites which cover Griffith and Hay will broadcast digital signals into the Riverina MIA coverage area; reaching from Coleambally to the south and Ardlethan to the east.
“We have been delayed in making this announcement as a result of equipment shortages caused by the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in March of this year. However, the new transmitter arrived in Port Botany late last week and once it clears customs it will be freighted to Griffith for installation works to commence early January 2012”, said Shirley Brown.
More information on the new digital channels and commencement dates will be communicated early January 2012.

New digital multichannel TV services for Griffith and the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area
Australia is switching to digital-only TV. By the end of 2013 all analog TV will be switched off permanently and replaced with digital-only free-to-air TV.
Griffith is in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area (MIA) switchover region which will switch to digital-only broadcasting on 5 June 2012.
In early 2012, WIN Television will commence providing all the digital multi-channel TV services in Griffith and the MIA that are not currently being broadcast in the area. The new services will be introduced gradually, with all services being available by the time analog services are switched off on 5 June 2012.
After all the multi-channel services commence operating, viewers in Griffith and the MIA will receive the standard definition (SD) commercial free-to-air digital TV services, Prime7, 7TWO, TEN, ELEVEN, WIN and GO! and the high definition (HD) services 7mate, GEM and ONE. Note however that 7mate will not commence until analog switch-off. The digital multi- channel services of the national services—the ABC and the SBS—are already being provided in the area.
More information about the exact timing of the commencement of the new commercial services and the channels on which the new services can be found will be provided by WIN Television closer to the time the services commence. This information will also be published at www.digitalready.gov.au on the Digital Switchover Taskforce’s Digital Ready website. The website will be updated as more information is provided by the broadcasters.
How do I receive the new commercial services?
Television services for Griffith and the MIA are provided from the Mt Bingar transmitter site which is about 25 kms north-east of Griffith.To receive the new digital multi-channel services you need to ensure that you have the right antenna and that it is correctly set up to receive services from the Mt Bingar transmitter site.
The best way to ensure that you have the right antenna set up is to seek advice from an Australian Government Endorsed Antenna Installer or another appropriately qualified antenna installer. A list of Endorsed Antenna Installers in Griffith and the MIA may be found in mySwitch on the Digital Ready website.

Yeah the channels are finally here, except for 7two and 7mate. I'm guessing because ch6 is currently being used to carry Prime/WIN/Ten's main channels, which is what 7 will be using when it's finalised?
The online guide isn't up yet, of which i'm guessing is in the works for later this week going by stump_1100's post.

Your current transmission channel 6 is carrying Logical Channel Number 5 (TEN), LCN 6 (Prime7), LCN 8 (WIN). This uses the horizontal part of your antenna which is used by ABC.
The existing transmitter will continue to carry WIN and GEM and GO! will replace the TEN and Prime programs.
When the other two transmitters are installed they will be received by the vertical part of your antenna which is used for SBS
On a channel scan you will see WIN programs first then the ABC then 7network programs along with 7 Mate and 72. Once those are detected the receiver will move on to Ten programs along with One and eleven and lastly SBS programs.
To determine if the extra two transmitters are on air, you should see 7 Mate and One.

All yoiu should need is a UHF antenna pointing at the town site. Follow the links to Myswitch from the above council link for info on antenna pointing.
