Sony Professional - OLED monitors

OLED emits light, does not use LED backlighting and filtering by LCD.

OLEDs are capable of varying light output which is not the characteristic of a Plasma. The plasmas require multiple scans and if it is a bright pixel it is on for most of those scans. If it is dark it is on for none or only a small number of scans. So for example a 600 Hz display scans a frame 24 times when displaying a 25 frame/s image. If motion interpolation is use in plasma monitor the contrast range is reduced. This is not the case for OLED or LCD displays or if you could get one a CRT display.

For those who are prepared to spend the money HDMI input is an option so a Blu-ray or PVR/HDSTB can be used as signal sources.
