I'm desperate to upgrade to a 60".
It only has to fool the wife not the insurance company.

Just unplug the aerial. That would fool my wife.

If this is a serious question on how dumb your wife is...
How about donating ur TV to charity? (hope they still accept 'em).

*Put flat batteries in the remote.
*Just go out & buy the new one anyway & deal with the consequences later! That's always worked for me. My wife now has a rule that if I buy a new TV I have to buy her something to the value of 10% of the TV. Suits me just fine.

Overnight put on a DVD and pause the picture on some scene. Then crank the brightness and contrast to 100%.
Do the same scene for a few nights and the burn in will become apparent even to her.

Show her how much the plasma is costing to run and explain how much you could save with a new "efficient" LCD model .
But don't do a dodgy .Karma is a bitch

I like the dinosaur bit too
On a serious note, tell her that GEM (9 HD channel) stands for Girls Entertainment & Movies to counter 7Mate (7 HD channel) which is more a blokey channel.
Add to this the extra sport on OneHD (10 HD channel) will save you from buying Foxtel...
There's a lot less sport on OneHD these days, but she down't need to know that.
