No tried title in question but I do remember selecting my screen size was projecting to in my cambridge player. Not sure effects on 3D but something maybe worth making sure is correct in any case. To be honest not come across any ghosting on movies been watching at home so far, but can imagine could be pretty annoying.

Have you tried fiddling with the settings in your Oppo...not to go off topic but one of the choices is PAL/NTSC/Multi.  With Tron I had all sorts of ghosting issues.  Selecting multi in my oppo solved the problem and I've left it set to multi.

Thanks for the tip blairy. I will try it tonight.
We also have our Panasonic 3D BD HDR hitched up to the PJ so I don't know why I posted before trying that option too!

hi cwt yeah with same chip set I'd say exactly the same how works on the oppo and cambridge. for my cambridge 751 the manual says

Quote

3D TV Size

To enter the diagonal screen size of your HDTV. This option applies to 3D mode, to facilitate the player adjusts the 3D image for better visual quality.

The diagonal size of your TV screen, by default it is 46 inches.

just in case I put mine at 92" to suit my screen and so far not had any bother with ghosting or any other kind of distracting effects. :)

I suspect in the early days of 3D we're still in movie makers still learning a lot about the capabilities and dare say we'll be presented with the odd poor production. I guess why this thread good to highlight this sort of thing.

Changed resolution to Source and all problems went away :D

really really enjoyed tintin in 3D. infact go as far as saying most enjoyable 3D title for me so far !

picture quality for 3D is reference ! and works a treat for the movie. to the point you very soon get just drawn in forgetting even its an animation. as with the 7.1 dts-hdma audio adding well too with the experience :)

Underworld Awakening 3D

http://www.avsforum....d.php?t=1408494

quote;
This is one of the most dazzling 3D experiences I have had on Blu-ray. The film is shot mostly in the evening and in dark locals, however, this was never a detriment to discerning what we happening on screen in 3D as well as in fine and shadow details. The depth of field was stunning with objects popping off screen, as well as multi layered foreground to background imaging, all in the same shot. Colors were the standard cold/bluish quality shared with the other Underworld films. Flesh tones seemed properly pale and black levels were nice and inky. I usually have a hard time settling into a 3D flick, but this one was easy and by far one of the best you will see: End quote.

Another good video quality review

what did people think of tron in 3D ?

I started watching and was in 3D and then very suddenly it drops back to 2D and they tell you to keep glasses on as the movie is in both 2D and 3D. at this point took the glasses off and swapped to the 2D disc. I cant be bothered with wearing 3D glasses if the movie itself is in 2D with some 3D stuff. anyone sit through it in 3D ?

My youngest and I did. We weren't phased at all by the on/off visuals and took the specs off a couple of times. No different to shuffling around in your seat!
We both thoroughly enjoyed the presentation.
More annoying for me was the aspect ratio changes :logik:

Discussed at length in this thread http://www.dtvforum....33&hl=tron&st=0

I think when you're in the game it's 3D; otherwise it's 2D.  As well as 2D and 3D, aspect ratio changes too.

thanks for the link blairy. with a 16:9 screen the aspect ratio changes didnt bother me and liked the imax bits for effect. didnt like the 2D / 3D changes early on in the movie though. sitting there with 3D glasses on watching 2D seemed rather odd ! especially when not really sure when would swap to 3D again.

wasnt a huge amount watched in 3D back in the thread so wonder if  others watched in 3D since and what they thought :)

Ide be much more lasy Al ; probably hit the 3d glasses button then the 2d/3d remote button to get the single frame version :sorcerer: Hey its still 1080p mastered equally as well as the separate 2d hopefully

I grabbed a copy of WW2 in 3D when last in jb was selling quite cheaply $12 or something. its a short documentary around 45 min. and its actually very good viewing !

suprised just how much actual 3D they took from back then. and how good it is in quality. mostly stereo photography taken during the war and at the end of it.

I found it pretty interesting in content. and it is also intermingled wiht some studio shot 3D and street scapes of 3D HD material which all looks absolutely stunning !

it ends with a frenchman who takes 3D photos of his orchids and took a lot of colour 3D shots at end of the war. and he suggests 3D would be just so good for 3D ! now what a good idea that is hehe documentaries such as this and many of the imax bu-ray discs would be just great for 3D TV broadcasts. people seeing just how good these look would soon catch on how good 3D can look and suspect add a huge boost to its popularity rather than the gimmick that it is currently looked upon as...

I ordered mine from amazon.com when the $5 discount coupon was active (bringing the current price down to US$29.99), and it normally drops more before release.

My 5 disc John Carter was sent this week and with the coupn, it only set me back around AU$21!
BTW, just had a quick look at Journey 2 3D. The PQ is amazing and very bright (great contrast). I know it's not everyones "cup of tea", but if you have kids, I feel sure it will be great value.

Its uncanny how close the exchange rate brings the us couponed one to the brit one ; .Very interested in your view on John Carter ; its seems it polarised many viewers ; I think people expect too much action with scifi these days ; but I like the idea of old fashioned story telling especially what  Edgar Rice Burroughs was thinking so many decades ago :)  Poured mega bucks into it so hopefully its all on the screen. .

Who could say no to Dwayne ''the rock'' fighting giant flies :D If MIB3 or Prometheus or Wrath of the titans turn up under 18 quid its going in the basket with resident evil afterlife which just dropped to 10.97 ;thankfully pays to wait sometimes ..

from a PQ point of view what have seen for high definition 3D looks about as 10 out of 10 as it gets. anyways will post back once watched the rest of the movie :)

Its the best one I have bought Al  with a few like tihtin to go . Its very well cast and is almost an autobiography of early cinema ; can certainly see scorseses love of cinema  ..

The detail of the train station nooks and cranies really lends itself to 3d ; wait until you see the detail of the [spoiler] - youll'e know it when you see it :) Even the smallest rooms have tangible depth and pop out is used only when it is appropriate and enhances the story B)

Had a quick peek at John Carter 3D today and it looked very good to me.
I had reconciled myself to watching the 2D version, but after my quick look thisavo, I will give the 3D version the "premiere" view!
Also had a quick peek at Flying with Monsters and How to Train Your Dragon. Both shaping up to be excellent 3D presentations :)

Picked up Hugo 3D from the local Civic Video on their Tuesday night $1 special.

Wow!  This is the best 3D PQ I have seen.

Worth adding to the collection of reference material.
