These days I'm just going for a filter board, the surge protection features I don't care so much anymore...
This is because I disconnect all my A/V equipment when there is a chance of a thunderstorm (unplug power plug and A/V anntenna from the wall). That to me is active safety, hopefully more reliable than relying on a surge arrestor alone for equipment protection.

It's pretty expensive though, ~$400AUD from HK.
It is actually a surge arrestor as well - that small thingy with the IEC socket and apparently is user replaceable (Surge arrestors typically only works once)... But I didn't buy it for that purpose....
