Hi...this is probably in the wrong place but last resort..

Visiting a friend who has been given an old Beovision 9000 43/05 TV...think from 1993. He has gone out and bought a new Topfield TRF 7160 stb in the expectation of it working with the B and O. I understand the TV has been working fine as normal analogue until now.

No reason to suspect any problem with the stb...i just cant change the program source on the TV .....? in fact i cant get anything but snow...and a nice blank screen on "text" with a teletext page number...but cant get anything that looks like a switch to AV

so...anyone have a clue about how to operate a Beovision 9000.....?

the TV section has two AV sockets which look like scart sockets...one of which is connected to the sound and VCR section below with a scart cable......I have connected the other TV scart socket to the stb component and composite outputs but have not taken any digital RF beyond the stb.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer...John

Looong time since I worked on one of them - I have a distant memory the AV inputs have to be registered on the TV in the setup menu - do you have the manual for the set?

A SCART socket has 21 pins. If the things not set up correctly, it ain't gunna work, regardless of what you do.  With a SCART connection , the only sure
way is to set the thing up with the correct connections.  To input a signal from a STB,  use the following pins

Pin 2 = right audio IN.  Pin 6 = Left audio IN. Pin 4 = audio earth. Pin 20 = Composite Video IN  Pin 21 = Composite earth

There are SCART sockets out there with a built  in switching for IN or OUT connections . These come with 6 RCA plugs which are marked,  in/out.

If you require "component " First you will need to access the TV's menu's to change the inputs,   then use the following pins on the SCART

Pin  7= Blue IN,  Pin 5 = Blue earth.  Pin 11 = Green In.  Pin 9 = Green earth.  Pin 15 = Red  In.  Pin 13 = Red Earth

But it might be an idea just to get something on the screen first. Of cause if the STB also has  SCART, then a straight SCART to
SCART cable is available. Then you will also have auto switching, of the TV.
