Ive never understood why they don't rename the channel cricket tv in summer and back to afl after its finished, to me noones going to watch it for 3 months of the year. That's why it went last time I imagine.

If the sport is 'AFL' wouldn't the league be the AAFLL?
It's been 'football' for 150 years, why would it change now?

He doesn't know anything about football (or any other sport for that matter) either, he's on radio here in Melbourne in the morning and he is un-listenable (not that that is actually a word).  ONE wheeled him out to host their Super Bowl coverage a couple of years ago too...mind numbing

And just like Association football, Gaelic football and American football, it is shortened to 'football' where it is played

You have to ask the AFL that question, because they have encouraged the usage of 'AFL' to refer to the sport. Or ask the general public, because everyone calls the game AFL now - not just Fox.

Back to the TV channel - the Hawks have 6 of their 7 non-Melbourne games on Fox, great news (based on the assumption that 'all games will be native HD' actually means all games will be native HD)

Yeah im excited, 11 bulldogs games on fox so should all be HD tho not sure the darwin game will be.

I'm VERY surprised Foxtel or Seven hasn't picked up Wayne Carey. Now I'm not going to judge a person on his personal  life but as a ex AFL player he has a great deal of knowledge about the game. Brian Taylor is now going to Seven from Fox I hope Fox can swing over Gerard Whateley to do a few calls.

Well last time the channel was active straight after the AFL season ended they replayed the games starting from round 1

Well Fox Footy used to have Wayne Carey. He did a Saturday morning show with Jason Dunstall. He might have even done some stuff when it switched to Fox Sports also?

The Fox footy name has been revived...some may recall the Channel being announced as "Fox Sports AFL". Eddie Everywhere will be the new face of the channel:

I'm not Eddies greatest fan, but given that he will only be calling one game a week, and he won't call any matches involving Collingwood, I can live with it!

To quote the man himself: "Being a part of the new historic broadcast landscape with Foxtel and Fox Footy is a great opportunity to be able to showcase AFL how we all want it on our television screens - every single game live, uninterrupted siren to siren and in HD. Calling the footy one game a week is something I'm really excited to be doing."

The more I read about this deal, the more I believe every game really will be in HD...and in that respect, I don't really care who the callers are!
