I hope he is going across to AFL coverage, becauase he is awful on Fox Sports FC. You can tell he knows nothing about the game. Please bring back Simon Hill!

The AFL believes that AFL is a sport: http://www.afl.com.a...44/default.aspx
And it is. What do you want them to call it - football? That's just gonna be confusing.

It's been 'football' for 150 years, why would it change now?

You have to ask the AFL that question, because they have encouraged the usage of 'AFL' to refer to the sport. Or ask the general public, because everyone calls the game AFL now - not just Fox.

Back to the TV channel - the Hawks have 6 of their 7 non-Melbourne games on Fox, great news (based on the assumption that 'all games will be native HD' actually means all games will be native HD)

Well Fox Footy used to have Wayne Carey. He did a Saturday morning show with Jason Dunstall. He might have even done some stuff when it switched to Fox Sports also?

This from today's News Limited Papers.
And this from the Fox sports website.
I'm not Eddies greatest fan, but given that he will only be calling one game a week, and he won't call any matches involving Collingwood, I can live with it!
To quote the man himself: "Being a part of the new historic broadcast landscape with Foxtel and Fox Footy is a great opportunity to be able to showcase AFL how we all want it on our television screens - every single game live, uninterrupted siren to siren and in HD. Calling the footy one game a week is something I'm really excited to be doing."
The more I read about this deal, the more I believe every game really will be in HD...and in that respect, I don't really care who the callers are!
For those interested, the following people confirmed so far:
Fox Footy:
Eddie McGuire
Gerard Healy
Paul Roos
Jason Dunstall
Dwayne Russell
Brad Johnson
Alastair Lynch
Tony Shaw

Seven:
Leigh Matthews
Bruce McAvaney
Dennis Commetti
Mick Malthouse
