I think the upscaled ch 7 picture should look ok on Fox I said SHOULD you need to try to determine if the stb or the display does the upscaling as far as video out. I was told by Arron who calibrated my Kuro to have the Fox IQ2 on pass through and allow the display to do its thing as its engine is far better than the stb,but the first Friday night match will tell all

It gets upconverted at the playout centre. Fox Footy HD is always going to be 1080i, the set top box is always going to get a 1080i signal. The HD channel is always going to look better then the SD channel. No one should ever watch a channel in the 200's if you have HD available why would you watch the SD channel.

The Basketball on ESPN looked brilliant with 720p! maybe Fox Footy can benefit from such a move seeing it has a lot of motion in it. I noticed Foxtel uses the word "STUNNING" lately

I thought the same thing. Definitely looked upscaled when I first flicked on, but then when I had a look later it was HD.

Maybe those in master control are so used to receiving the footy in SD from Perth, that someone forgot to flick a switch! :D

Its very good upscaling seems dependent on which camera they switch to but if this is what Seven is going to look like then I will say well done Foxtel the extra pixels are doing the job

Nearly went into seizure when I first turned it on - standard def - after a brief stint on the defribulator noticed that somebody had flicked the right switch and it was native HD - in fact later on when the lighting kicked in at Subi, the quality was quite good.

Phew!

Maybe it had something to do with them crossing from 'After the Bounce' and they couldn't do it in HD?  The replays during the show seemed to be SD too, a limitation at their temporary studios perhaps?

Great to see the panel shows in HD. They've been flogging the "in stunning HD" line, and notwithstanding the usual bitrate discussions, they haven't let us down!

I like what I've seen so far presentation wise, slick graphics etc. As others have said, not a whole lot to complain about!

Oh, and Go Cats!!

Totally with you on that. Have to give Foxtel  some credit as I thought they would have used the 'under construction' status of their new Melb HD studios as an excuse to give us upscaled panel show stuff in the meantime.  I now also have a perfectly legitimate excuse to give 7 the complete miss when it comes to footy coverage !

Laurie,I thought he was talking about his show "after the bounce" and the segments they are going to have. One of the "technology" that he showed was the Ted Whitten 3/4 time speech and they had superimpossed Brad Johnson into the huddle, they had him standing there in a dressing gown .

Watching 360 and on the couch tonight, and although the studio stuff is definitelty in HD, some of the game clips they've shown during those shows looked upscaled to me. A limitation of the "under construction" phase perhaps?
