So the start and end times are correct?  Please check the date (in the to-do list).  If the date is still yesterday, it usually indicates that the recording was preempted by another booking.  From the recorded programme list, you don't see other programmes that covered 20:43 to 21:30 right?
OK, just checked:

* set for every Monday at the correct time
* no other program set to record at that time (and thjere was not last night either)

But we were looking at other files before coming to that one although there were no messages on screen about stopping any recording so I've no idea what happened.

John

Further thought:  It was recorded as a new file BUT "Australian Story" was the previous recording which was recorded (as per MAGIC) custom for an extra 10 minutes so it would seem that the end of Australian Story recording also shut off  "4 Corners", something which should not happen, and has never happened previously.

I tried to book two consecutive programmes with 10-min end time extension, but could not reproduce the problem you described.

Thanks for taking the time & trouble.  I'll see if it recurs & report back if it does.

Maybe just an odd glitch.

Any word on if the 5.07 firmware that theoretically helps with daylight savings changes will be released (out of beta) before daylight savings changes on 1 April?

We won't see a non-beta 5.07 any time soon.  Please try the beta firmware.

Not sure I've seen a competent DLS handling PVR yet. Partly because PVR makers put it in the too hard basket and partly because the broadcasters are lousy at DLS notifications from their end. I wouldn't trust a PVR to record things correctly if you're away over a DLS change. IMO you're getter to set manual timers for the period and pad by an hour or more to cover potential air times.

I know what you mean. Very annoying - often you need to leave up to 2 hours each side - ridiculous.

Getting slightly better, though. A couple of years ago it took a full week to get the EIT times correct after daylight savings change, these days usually ok by Monday.

I am running the 5.00 AU firmware ATM on the non Freeview version. I have not felt the need to update it as everything has operated reliably up until now. This morning I checked my To Do List and everything was out by 1 hour so obviously the DLS issue has reared it's head again. Slightly annoying but no big deal overall.I still think it is a ripper unit!

Even HWW, the EPG data aggregator, can't get DLS transitions right.

That's why there is a 5.07 beta firmware that attempts to fix this DLS problem in post #662.

That makes we wonder whether the 5.07 beta can really fix the bookings for DLS transitions for everybody.

Well it fixed it for the two Magic units here.  Both reading the correct time without need for manual entries.

So does that mean this version can be upgraded from beta now? Are there any other issues with the 5.07 beta?

Is it available over wifi (using the dongle) or do I need to download and unzip to file?

5.07 beta needs to be downloaded and installed via USB.

I have checked my unit, which is running the 5.07beta firmware, and all is well here with the daylight savings changeover also. The new firmware appears to have done the trick.

Sorry for not looking through the previous 30 odd previous pages but does anyone know if the currently sold versions of this pvr still come with the skip functionality?

Currently in the market to replace my currently no longer used toppy 5k and the magic seemed to fit the bill.

Yes.  In case it comes with the Freeview MTV3700 firmware (without skip function), or if you want recent bug fixes, you need to upgrade to the latest MTV4000 firmware 5.07 beta (with skip function) in post #662 on page 34.

I set up a friend with a Toppy 7000 in 2008 and it behaved without missing a beat until a couple of weeks ago.  He was so frustrated I suggersted a MAGIC replacement.  It arrived here a couple of days ago so I set it up with 5.07 firmware and he collected it today.  In the meantimew I pertsuaded him to download later firmware for the Toppy which did in fact clean up his problems, but he is as delighted as I am at the functionality of the MAGIC.  I got a refurbished one for him as posted about the other day for $224 landed here into Tasmania - even cheaper than the two units I have!

Some recordings went haywire on my Ultraplus satellite PVR last night and it seems the ABC EPG had a fit so I've reprogrammed it now things appear to have settled down.

Just noticed a neat feature that I don't recall anybody posting before. If you are watching a live TV program and you get part way into it and decide to record it and hit rec then it grabs the timeshift buffer and the recording starts from the beginning of the program.

BTW just noticed my WiFi dongle has packed up there is a solid green light on instead of the green flashing and it cannot find my router.

Does the recording start from the scheduled start time of the program, or from the actual time it started, which can be before the scheduled time (though it's more often after)?

Not 100% sure but I think it is the sheduled start time I presume it gets the relevant info from the EPG data as unreliable as that is. I did end up with two files for the F1 in Sepang due to weather conditions the show overan by well over 1/2 hour. The second file was titled Cops from epg data.
