The BDX1100 can not (as far as I know) be made region free. BDX1105 can if you get hold of the correct firmware. The BDX1100 does also not have any USB interface, only SD-card.

Tried playing the US release of Cars 2 2D and I cannot get it to play. It plays the previews fine and then freezes at the 'top menu'.

Anyone else with this disc gotten it to play? If so which version was it? Region A or B?

Cheers

Someone else with a similar problem got it solved by turning CEC off in the setup menu. I know that CEC shouldn't have anything to do with playback, but you can try and see if it helps.

Thanks, didn't work sadly...however I did manage to get the movie started eventually.

When the trailers started I was able to hit the 'pop up menu' button and 'play movie' was a selection along with 'top menu'. The latter failed again but the former allowed the movie to be played.

Not ideal but at least it can can be watched, on something other than the PS3.

Hi all,

I just bought the toshiba 1200ky and it didn't come with the upgrade disc or card explaining what to do. I've tried entering the code at the set-up screen and it does open the sub menu but won't allow me to change DVD or BluRay region setting. Spoke to Toshiba and they say the units aren't region free?? Anyone able to help please?

Without the firmware update disc you can't get the player to be multi-region from what I understand.  Do you know anyone who has the update disc?  If so simply borrow it and you should be good to go,

Hi Mitcon

I purchased the 3200 as I imported a Region A blu-ray. Turned out to be an expensive blu-ray! My unit did not have the upgrade disc as well. Go to post 33 by Baboy, he's included a link that explains how to download and install the firmware which allows you to change regions. Worked for me.

Don't know anyone with the disc, already tried the USB drive without any luck as it just tells me there's no file on the USB drive. Thing is even if I can get it to work what about future firmware upgrades? Maybe it's better just to go with units that can use mod chips.

Edit: tried several more times, got it to work in the end. Had to use a different brand USB drive, lol seems the BDP didn't like any of the Toshiba USB drives I have.

Just purchased the 3200. What a great work around for those with Region A BR Discs.  Chucked the supplied disc in and away you go.
And all for a very respectable $140.00.  I've locked my to Region A as there does't appear to be too many Region B locked discs in my collection.

Well done guys....I was on the verge of buying the Oppo 95 or Cambridge 751.   Probably will eventually but will wait now for the new Oppo rumoured due out this year.

Can anyone save the 3200 .bin software to something other than rapid share?

Tried the free download 3 times and every time it disrupted about 3/4 of the way through ie after about 8 mins.

Very frustrating.

And no I didn't get a disc.

I just downloaded and saved the bin and ISO to my puter .

They were both very slow/stop,start downloads though   ..but did complete in 1 go.

My better half's folks bought the Tosh BDX1200KY player recently but are having problems. When they first bought it, I set it up for them and put in the firmware upgrade, made it multi-region, etc. They never use the blu-ray feature (no BR disks) but use a variety of shop-bought and DVD-R discs. The problem they are having is that every five minutes or so, the playback pauses for between 5 and 12 seconds. The same disk plays ok on their other DVD recording machine (a Samsung, I think) so it is not the disk that is the problem. They sent the player back to the store and got a replacement, but it does the same thing.

Has anyone else had this "feature" crop up? I have downloaded the latest version of the firmware and I'll try that. If anyone else knows something else to try I am all ears, otherwise they may have to take that back to the shop and get a Panasonic DVD-R from somewhere (there aren't many DVD-R machines around any more).

All help gratefully received. Cheers,

Al.

About that - saw them at the Auburn store a few weeks ago - they had plenty of stock.
